They weren't beating the Nuggets on a B2B, or even at full strength in Denver, hell they lost at home against this very team when Denver was on a B2B in January. Anyway the Jazz losing is one of those nice surprises that makes the loss completely bearable. I wouldn't be too upset about 2/25 if I were a Lakerfan.

So, they have 34 games left. 20 - 14 good enough? What do people guess they'll require at this point?

They have 24 games left and they'll prolly have to go 17-7

Yeah, it was. I'm steaming. Couldn't handle The Truth last night.

If Hollinger's projections about the other Western teams are right, the Lakers would need to go 16-8 to get in, as he has Utah projected to finish in the 8 seed at 43-39 and the Jazz have the tiebreaker with LA. So sorting the remainder of the schedule by difficulty, they need at least as many wins above the dotted line as losses below it:

@ OKC
@ Clippers
@ Indiana
@ Atlanta (2nd game of B2B)
vs. San Antonio
@ New Orleans (2nd game of B2B)
@ Milwaukee (2nd game of B2B)
@ Golden State
-------------------------------------------
@ Portland
@ Minnesota
vs. Chicago
vs. Houston (last game of reg. season, possible rested starters)
vs. Memphis
@ Phoenix
vs. Dallas
vs. Atlanta
vs. Toronto
vs. Golden State
@ Sacramento
vs. Washington
vs. New Orleans
@ Orlando
vs. Minnesota
vs. Sacramento

Now, I didn't check to see which times opponents were on B2Bs so presumably some of those games will be a little easier. So it's tough, but still feasible. Maybe they go 13-3 in the "easy" games, split with Golden State and Milwaukee on the road, and then go 2-4 in the "tough" games? I think that's probably what they need to shoot for.

Victor one thing that really helps them is that the fix is pretty clearly in. Even with my hater glasses off, it's pretty obvious that they got some favorable treatment in the POR/DAL/DEN games. I don't see them losing many close ones the rest of this year.

Rigging is no match for their WIL, though.

There's no room for that kind of talk in the Laker tribute thread

Lol I love that Lakers have their worst season in almost a decade, are probably out of the playoffs and somehow the league is still rigged in their favor. I wonder how bad of a season they have to have for it to be considered a fair league. Better check to make sure those hater glasses are actually off.

seadood is just a very persistent troll WRT Lakers or a very bitter fan of a team we've smashed year after year.

No, I get it. I'd imagine it's not easy to be a fan of a second tier, perennial also-ran year after year. Could easily drive one to irrational paranoia.

Typical Lakerfan to fall back on past success and use the "you just hate us because we're so successful" line, and ignore the fact that anyone with a brain can see that the Lakers got major preferential treatment over the last 3 games. All you have to do is look at the comments section in any non-Lakercentric thread to see what I'm talking about.

And fwiw I was a hater long before they started whooping on the Nuggets, and will be long after these upcoming years of irrelevance in Laker lore.

By this logic I can only assume you believe online poker is rigged as well? I mean, just look at all the people on the internet who say it is!

Well no but they are similar enough that it is an apt comparison which is why I used it. In both situations, the long term -ev pretty clearly outweighs the short term gain and if you believe people are motivated by money, it's highly unlikely either is systematically rigged.

Edit: Also, complaining about reffing in sports in general is tired, trite and uninteresting.
