Now lol americans saying we ran good when they indeed ran very **** good to get out of that group.
Meh, USA def deserved to emerge from that group. 4pts between Ghana/Portugal matches is pretty fair how they played, and 4pts was always going to be through in most cases due to Germany's strength.

Even worse than taking off RVP

I think you are to be honest.
The team I like is Algeria because I was in South France when they qualified for the 2010 World Cup. I remember being gutted for them when Egypt scored in the 95th minute to force a tiebreaker but somehow Algeria managed to win the tiebreaker.
Now in the category of teams that actually have a chance at winning Im behind Colombia and Holland.

Even if it was correct call, it reaffirms why diving/flopping/dramatic falling/etc is not going to leave the game. If he tries to stay on his feet after getting his toe stepped on he would never get the call. If he weren't planning on going down before the contact arrived it would look too fake for him to decide to go down after he waited to see if there was actually contact. So its massively +EV to decide to go down before you know if there will be contact which leads to all the absurdities when the contact never happens (which wasn't this case). But you absolutely can't fault players for diving in the box everything about the rules and how soccer is officiated basically would make you a complete idiot not to have going down easy as part of your game plan as an attacker.

More like 3 pts between Ghana/Portugal The USA indeed deserved to win vs Portugal but Ghana played much better than the USA abd clearly deserved a win.

USA tried to score for all of 5 minutes and came away with two goals. They should get serious credit for that. A big part of "being outplayed" was strategy, especially once we lost our striker. No way the US "should" have gotten zero points. 1 is pretty clearly the right overall outcome for that match.

who do you think deserved to advance in the group then? ghana who held a lead for 8 total minutes this entire world cup, or portugal who you admit should have lost to the US and got massacred by germany

So you are talking about hundreds of coaches and you are trying to taunt mexican on a sample size of one?

Might seem silly but I would have liked to have seen a penalty at the end along with a yellow card for Robben. It was a penalty but he still dived like a bitch if that makes sense.

I know that isn't how the rules work

Are people questioning the penalty call? What the **** do you want? A rugby tackle? Its a stonewall penalty every single time.

USA got lucky in the sense that Ghana lacked accuracy but they were the second best team in their group imo.

The issue / topic jumped out at me with the Uruguay and Mexican coaches this week. Agreed ... small sample size. I'm sure history would show examples of U.S. coaches doing the same ... just none are coming to mind and I've been following U.S. sports now for quite some time.

Mexico had a really good Cup, and it should make them question why they didn't play better in the hex. A non-lucky, well earned draw vs. Brazil in Brazil in the World Cup is something that is a huge achievement. Almost won the group and played very well vs. Holland, well enough to win, despite some tactical errors in the 2nd half. The fans should feel good about the team. The Mexican fans here in Brazil were amazing and represented Mexico very well indeed, a top-3 fan base including Chile and USA. Tough loss, especially in a World Cup that looks wide open and winnable for almost anyone, but eventually will feel good about how El Tri performed. Kudos.
