Why don't they just play nearly all the games at night and have indoor style stadiums for all the games during the day (2002 had an indoor stadium, they floated the pitch outside lol). Maybe still too hot/humid?

The cost of domes are quite more expensive then adapting some existing stadia

Whole thing is stupid give america 2022 and Australia 2026 as compensation

With as much money as Qatar is pouring into the WC and their WC stadiums I don't understand why they wouldn't build domed stadiums. Problem solved, and you don't have to eff up the entire mother effing world football calendar for years to make it happen.

No. This is what makes it even worse. FIFA knew Qatar was high risk on a number of fronts and rated it as such in their inspections prior to the vote. They simply chose to ignore it and go for the $ anyway.

because they need more than domed stadiums. The teams have to practice somewhere, for example.

I think one of the biggest risks is supporters from all different countries who have no idea how to deal with the heat too

You have to wonder when Qatar is going to realize just how much money they are going to lose by hosting the World Cup. Brazil, a country with a long and proud soccer tradition, is going to have stadiums sit dormant after the WC. But Qatar is planning to build 12 stadiums in a country the size of Connecticut. There's just no way that's feasible for them.

Brazil will have thousands of people like Clark who are going to spend tens of thousands of dollars to spend weeks or even a month in Brazil. Why? Brazil is f'n cool. Are those people really going to spend a month in Qatar?

Weren't there talks about taking them apart, LEGO style, and flying them off to be assembled somewhere else?

Maybe that's what they'll be using the flying islands for.

A senior Fifa official and his family were paid almost $2 million from a Qatari firm linked to the country’s successful bid for the 2022 World Cup, The Telegraph discloses.

Jack Warner, the former vice-president of Fifa, appears to have been personally paid $1.2 million (£720,000) from a company controlled by a former Qatari football official shortly after the decision to award the country the tournament.

Payments totalling almost $750,000 were made to Mr Warner’s sons, documents show. A further $400,000 was paid to one of his employees.

It is understood that the FBI is now investigating Trinidad-based Mr Warner and his alleged links to the Qatari bid, and that the former Fifa official’s eldest son, who lives in Miami, has been helping the inquiry as a co-operating witness.

Least surprising news ever, but will be interesting reading the details regarding just how blatant and stupid they were about it.

Wonder if this will actually affect anything for the 2022 WC, or will it just make FIFA hide bribes better for 2026 and 2030.

Diamond Jack has been at this forever. And he didn't get that name because he was a huge David Lee Roth fan.
