It's the drum of truth. Never was it more self-evident than the Brazil vs Germany game. An eternity after the first goal, your good self had to ask itt what happened on the first goal because you still had no clue , you were then "informed" what had happened by a few people who had equally little of a clue as you did.

You weren't alone though, not sure there was even any mention of what went on in amongst the seemingly endless slew of brainless "lols".

Mourinho knows he is not good enough to be a top quality CB at the highest level on a regular basis. I guess he is a clueless moron as well.
What Mourinho knows is that when you receive a world record bid for your 3rd choice CB that will 80% pay for a first choice midfielder AND striker, you accept it.

I'd like to see them play the 3rd place playoff as an appetiser to the final. Having it on its own day doesn't really excite and it would be better build up than watching a couple of hours of pundits talk ****

Wait, so you are giving out about people who post during games yet you read all the in game posts? That might actually be worse? I have no idea what you are talking about wrt the opening goal.

Are you in the running for best watcher of football, I don't get why you have such a problem with it? People post during games, you don't. Accept it and move on?

To be blunt you are coming across as a sanctimonious prick. It really isn't a good look.

+1

Like they did with the FA Cup Final this year as an appetizer for the DFB-Pokal Finale

Apart from 5 afaik these are all goalscorers and goalkeepers. Who votes on these things?

Agree. It should be on early, finals on late.

I do like the consolation game tho. MORE INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL

Not giving out about anything, just making the point that it's no wonder people misjudge stuff and get caught up in narratives that are decided for them as a result of not actually watching what's in front of them.

Skimmed the thread this morning to see if the first goal was discussed at all.

Like I said, don't think you're alone and not sure it was even mentioned by anyone as it was far easier to "lol Luiz".

The first goal came from Germany (Klose) running a block on Luiz to free up Muller from the corner.

There's probably a fear of the playoff being a cracker and the final being less so. Usually pretty likely given what's at stake in either game.

I was too busy celebrating the goal to notice or care about what happened as I had Muller to score first in my bet. I like winning money.

Are we even going to have a thread dedicated to Brazil vs Holland?

Fwiw, Pinnacle traders have been very impressed with his work. Feeling is that his modelling went back a little too far on World Cup results, thus the inflated Brazil number, but that most of his research was excellent. Also, obv can't account for Neymar/Silva omissions.

Sorry, I meant Nate Silver couldn't account pre-World Cup for the timing of the Neymar/Silva omissions.

i'd have to give him benefit of the doubt here if he hadn't published the adjustment

tbh i havent even looked at much of the other stuff, it might be good idk, but a mere cursory glance at the brazil stuff is enough to know that AT BEST he is knowingly publishing some numbers which he knows are miles & miles away from der markt and therefore bad, perhaps b/c it is +ev for nate silver to be all in on brazil if they bink their ~25%, and at worst he doesn't know the numbers are bad.

Brazil became only the third side in WC history to be 5 goals down by half-time, name the other two..

The Market was clearly wrong about Brazil's chances. No way they were 3/1 shots, and he had them as >50% favourites. So yes Lol him.

Actually scrap that:

Spoiler:
Germany in 1954 lost by a ton against Hungary in the group stage. Picking Germany instead of Saudi Arabia. I believe we scored most our goals in the second half in 2002 against the Saudis.
