was pretty apparent that they were all doing it.

pretty okay flick, i can see how some might think this was boring but it came from the era where i was really starting to understand and get into sports, so memories and all.

So in conclusion: everyone was dirty (maybe not the Brazilian guy who finished way behind)

this was one of my favorite 30 for 30's so far. i have an odd fascination with steroids though. it's funny to see everyone's reaction when the guy is built like a greek god. there were a few others that race that looked massive but nothing compared to him obviously.

dudd is right, everyone looks like that now. it's pretty funny. they all have friggin perfect bodies for runners. i think this steroid stuff is pretty awesome -- seeing how advanced it has all gotten; it's cool, for lack of a better term, to see how ripped everyone is come every four years.

lol horse drugs. awesome.

linford christie. come on bro.

I'd bet Calvin Smith wasn't dirty either.

This was a really really really good doc.

Quick question, when that dude said 500k was WAY off, he meant Lewis got significantly more for am appearance to smoke everyone in a foot race? ****ing sick

Great episode. I got the sense that Calvin Smith was dominating until everyone else started cheating and that he might actually have been clean. He pretty much overtly accused Lewis of cheating and I think the rest of them all rationalized it as they weren't cheating to anywhere near the extent Johnson was and were really just trying to even the playing field.

Am I right that Lewis basically admitted to getting that Andre guy to spike Johnson's drinks?

that was insane. it didn't seem totally clear to me, were they basically implying that ben wouldn't have gotten caught if that guy didn't spike his drinks?

I saw one of the new 30 for 30s, 9.79* at the Toronto Film Festival. It's about Ben Johnson and Carl Lewis and is one of the most strictly entertaining of the docs i have seen and is going to rustle some American's jimmies.
lol u

this is what i gathered, although it seems completely absurd. guy was doping hardcore but he got busted by getting his drink spiked by what was assumedly something he was already doping with?

whole thing was sick but also lol at the same time. it was unclear how much carl lewis was doping, he was a skinny mofo.

when they kept showing ben johnson and how hard he worked and how sick the recovery time was for steroids they'd show him benchpressing a lot... is benching a super secret way to get good at sprinting? i legit have no idea, but i'd have to guess there is very little upper body work outside of core stuff.

Word on the street is that the upcoming Kansas one about buying the original Rules of Basketball is the worst one. Slate writers podcast said it was borderline unprofessional and unethical.

The upper body drives the lower body. Obv he did a ton of other things besides going super heavy on bench... no it's not a secret.

i figured as much i just thought it was funny they kept showing "him" benching so frequently instead of squatting/lunging/box jumping/whatever else you'd expect sprinters to do.

Gonna to rustle some American's jimmies, which I later clarify to be non-2p2ers since 2p2ers don't care about doping, while being one of the more strictly entertaining docs I have seen != everyone is going to be furious.

Good doc, though the main thrust that doping is widespread isn't really surprising.

Have to say I empathised with everyone in the doc apart from Lewis who came across as a terrible human being.
