you rarely ever see players give him much crap either. Definitely one of the best and generally very fair. Isn't/wasn't he a cop for a while? may at least explain why he doesn't catch too much crap

honestly, it could very well be much longer then that if hicks and gillette hold the team past this season. I don't think that they'll do a leeds, but they could be in real danger of a slow descent depending on how long H&G own the team

+1 to Mark Halsey being the best around

i would imagine that the value of lolpool has already dropped on the back of the games we've seen already.
Yes and no - they basically will have the first right to any money that comes in. By spending £20-£30m they not only lose that money but increase the wage bill further, and with no guaranteed return. RBS may well take a haircut on their current debt - they'd be absolutely insane to throw good money after bad. If you took a proposal to the relevant RBS committee to throw another £20-£30m you'd be laughed out the door and probably fired. I say all of this as a banker that has some experience of "work-out" (i.e. handling bad debts such as these.

i know nothing about finance (who'd have guessed it) and what you wrote looks a likely scenario, so im going to stop now.

gonna be a long hard and very boring season watching lolpool.

If other people picked the same bankers as you, they ALSO lost the same points you have. If those bankers would have won, they ALSO would have won the same points as you. Therefore, no change in standings. **

This reminds me of the "Sp*rs should focus on the league so they can qualify for CL" argument.

**Well, I see your point now. Yes, if you did not pick at all, you just get your negative points refunded.

Jay-Z 'Ready' For Arsenal Investment

JAY-Z is planning to spend more time in London as he prepares to invest in a top British soccer team.

The rapper has previously spoken of his interest in becoming a major shareholder in Barclays Premier League club Arsenal, admitting he has been a fan of the team since French star Thierry Henry played for them.

But Jay-Z, who co-owns U.S. basketball team the New Jersey Nets, insists he will have to play an active role in Arsenal if he's to clinch the deal.

He says, "(Wife Beyonce and I) would have to spend much more time in London. Bey knows how much I love sports and has known about my interest in Arsenal for a while.

"I never want to be a back-seat investor. I want to be on the board, involved in the decision-making... I'm at the stage of my career where I am ready for another investment like this. I have really got into soccer over the last 10 years and I've been saying for some time I want a percentage of Arsenal."

Obv, not a sugar daddy type investor, but someone on the periphery. He does say he would want to be on the board, which is interesting and the idea of Jay Z being on the board filled with a bunch of rich old English people is hilarious. Him and Kroenke can chillax together.

Jay-Z is also a part owner in the NJ Nyets.

Some rich rapper fancies buying shares in a trendy team is a cool story? Sounds like a lot of what is wrong with football all wrapped up in a single sentence.

Jay-z is more than just a rich rapper, he is a successful business man in several ventures and he already partially owns a sports team (NBA NJ Nets).

He claims to be a supporter of the team and he is thinking about buying some shares. I can't see anything negative with that.

Surely its better than some random rich dude buying a team as an investment?

He claims to be a supporter? What sort of supporter? Some **** that watched a few YouTube clips of Thierry Henry? He's not a supporter, just some Johnny Come Lately onto the Premiership bandwagon.

So it's better than Roman Sheikh Rich Chinese **** and because of that it makes everything tickety boo?

It makes me laugh. Some rich ****er decides he wants to buy into to something that is currently fashionable, celebrity **** bling boy culture and there's "nothing negative with that". It shows the state the game is in.

LOL, dude you have no clue how much of a supporter he is or not, nor do I. But I really see no reason to doubt his sincerity. He claims to have supported them for the past 10 years and now he wants to buy a portion of the team. Seems like a pretty strong indication he's more than a "youtube fan" or a "glory hunting fan", especially considering we've won nothing the past 5 years.

I'd love to know how many games Jay Z has been to, absolutely love to. I bet he can't wait to get the Arsenal result when he's chillin' in LA.

Like I say, it's a sad state of affairs. I can't wait for the Arsenal squad/Jay Z collaboration single and subsequent remixes.
