Right so this will be a bet dispute... to me it just looks like pure BS by ChrisV. This was about a prop bet for $100 of Man City finishing above Arsenal. Am I crazy when I think this is absolutely shady / bs?...

Line of events:

24th of AUGUST

Next match weekend:

Arsenal - Bolton 4:1
Manchester City - Blackburn 1:1 (drop points vs team Arsenal beat away hmm hmm..)

Instantly the day after I wake up to this from ChrisV.

"
Arsenal v Man City season bet
Hi,

So I got around to looking back through the thread to see what happened after I posted this bet offer. I intended the offer for one taker only which is why the amount was limited to $100. Having checked the thread, cashy booked the bet first, so the bet is on with cashy and not with you Rick. Sorry about that. I'm going to win though so it's for the best."

If this is what you intended then why were you confirming the bet then almost 2 weeks later?

Why are you figuring this out just now, the day after Man City drop more points and Arsenal get the full 3? and no, you're not gonna win... by saying that you just make it seem even more shady. We're only 4 games in, City look like they need at least a season and they're already 5 points behind Arsenal...

The timing of it is just so awful too...
Whether you're just being shady or if it's a genuine mistake it's just not cool.
had Arsenal lost and Man City won what would you be doing then...

This is just bad form.

Cliffs:

Don't make bets and then pull out THREE WEEKS later when the odds have changed significantly against your favour.

Also don't take bets with people who live on the other side of the world

Yeah, that bet is pretty clearly booked when he says "but np, it's on."

did any UKtards watch the football league show after Match of the day? Specifically the Gillingham match? They had a footballer playing for them that truly looked obese!! I've seen some fattish people before playing, Jan Molby etc, but nothing compares to what I saw last night.

I tried searching for "fat person from Gillingham" but unsurprisingly googleimages pretty much produced the entire population of that ****hole. Anyone know who it was?

also (potential) song of the day defo went to the everton supporters for planning to sing "no woman, no kai" to the turn of no woman no cry. Brilliant.

Yeah, maybe it was a mistake but it doesn't matter. It's just the timing of it makes it look so bad on his part...

When you say booked, and then immediately the day after the odds change come up with this isn't exactly right :/

I'm mostly peeved cause it's an Arsenal bet... You can't put your money where your mouth is, remove the money and keep at your opinion (by saying it's for the best cause you'd win anyway... )

Ekky - the fat guy was probably Ade Akinfenwa, who makes me look lithe in comparison.

turtle, did you send Chris a pm about this before you posted here?

if yes, what did he say?

if no, you probably (definitely) should have done so first.

I sent one that I'd bring it up here.

I don't see the point for a pm. It was an ITT bet so I'll write it ITT. Everything about it being booked is in the thread...

Frankly, it also pissed me off and I think justifiably so... Mostly the bit at the end (you don't take a bet back but still rub it in like youd win anyways)... and if I'm gonna have to spend time digging up and quoting posts I'll just fkn post it in here.

I followed the dialogue from the inception regarding the Man City/Arsenal offer. All along I was of the impression that the bet was not limited to one taker. All that was required to take the bet would be to quote and then it would be booked.

If there was any ambiguity, Chris V would have to bear the risk. However, there was not since he later confirmed that it had indeed been booked.

Furthermore, I also agree that if there any question whatsoever, Chris should have raised the issue once Cashy was stating that he also booked. Personally, I cannot imaging that Chris V was not monitoring the thread to chart the booking action on his bet and that he was not aware of more than one taker. Indeed, I have only had time to be a casual reader of this thread lately and I was hip that both players had taken the action ... and I had no dog in the fight.

Chris, if this is a misunderstanding ... eat it and move on gracefully. Otherwise, I don't think this makes you look very good.

@Hoopie.

was typing that out before i seen the replay, and because it was Ferguson i thought i'd post a bit of bile

Liverpool are just awful going forward.

Maxi imo is one of the most useless wingers in the league, i don't remember a single instance in which he contributed something meaningful in any of the games i've seen him play.
09-12-2010 , 11:51 AM
jocks have bossed the midfield so far, played very well, mind you, liverpools midfield is full of some the weakest pansies ever to grace a footy pitch. Sad times for pool fans.
09-12-2010 , 11:52 AM
i know this is a bit late, but i just seen Chelsea's 2nd goal from yesterday = lots of LOL's.
09-12-2010 , 11:54 AM
what an awful half, where the **** is meireles?
09-12-2010 , 11:56 AM
bhahahaha Jovanovic AND Maxi on at the same time is HILARIOUS
