Ødegaard signs a new 5 year contract.

I know I am spoiled when these news are taken for granted like 'of course he does'.

Amazing how fickle us football fans are. I like alot of fans were calling for Kronke's head not long ago and now I feel we have one of the best run clubs in the league.

Yep, makes me more thankful that at least Ten Hag is an aloof dumbass with a horrible judge of character because I am not ready for how much of a lovable gentleman that Ange is. Ugh.

There is still plenty of time, and he was always a bit fat and lazy, but I thought he was just sulking and not trying because he didn’t want to be at LC anymore and we’d see a lot more of that FA Cup year talent immediately on display.

It was a huge turnaround.

Those critics were absolutely right and I was also convinced the owners were not involved. The change might have had to do something with the critics, getting the right people in the right positions.

But also maybe Josh trying to show his father he can organise **** or their other franchises having loads of success in the US. Whatever it was I am all here for it.

Caught up on this thread after a week off. So many bad refereeing decisions against us in the Brighton game I couldn’t even choose one for DAU.

United are the biggest team in English football, we ruined childhoods so understandably you read crap in forums like this that “Chelsea are playing well” whereas we’re the worst team ever.

———————————————————

We have an injury crisis that has only got worse as the season got started. We absolutely botched preseason from a match fitness perspective, and that’s on the club
and the manager.

Add in Greenwood/Antony and Ten Hag, who had a brilliant first season relative to expectation (3rd place, trophy drought ended, narrow loss in FA Cup final to a GOAT contender).

We made 3 first team signings in the summer, Ten Hag making (what he believes is 3 very clear upgrades):

Onana for De Gea
Mount for Eriksen
Hojlund for Martial

We added squad depth with Amrabat (finally a much needed Casemiro rotation alternative) and had to make an emergency loan in Regulion and extended Evans (who had been brought in to play the Paul McShane role, but actually made the pitch due to the biggest injury crisis of centre backs since Fergie lost at Fulham with Carrick and Richie De Laet at CB).

Sensible window. Finally moved on the poisonous Bailly and Telles, and got decent money for Elanga, Henderson and Fred.

Why do we have an awful away record against elite teams? A big part of the problem is that Christian Eriksen has the worst defensive stats of any centrally positioned midfielder in England. Offensively he has something to offer, particularly when we’re guaranteed possession - he was very good in the Forest comeback - but in the modern game you can’t have passengers. Mount possesses many of Eriksen’s attacking qualities whilst also having an unbeliavble engine. He made 9 ball recoveries vs Spurs, and was a big reason why we overwhelmed them in the first half (and were denied a handball penalty that gets claled 95% of the time - no doubt due to the media inquests around Onana vs Wolves). But he got injured.

Mount has played 2 games.

Then there’s Hojlund. What a profile. What a talent. He simpy destroyed Gabriel physically in a way I’ve never seen before.

But again, he came to us injured, and barely plahed.

No team has played better vs Spurs (or Arsenal) this season. Losing away at Spurs and Arsenal when both games could have easily - is that a crime for the 3rd best team last season? It seems like we’re going to lose those fixtures a lot. City lose at Spurs a reasonable amount of the time ffs.

Again we dominated Brighton for 20 mins and couldn’t score. Ten Hag got the tactics wrong - he shouldn’t have played a diamond. By all means bring in McTominay - but he should be coming in for Eriksen, not Antony. Pellistri on the right was the best option - we went to narrow and Lamptey/Veltman had a field day. That said, if we equalise we win 4-1. Brighton are a brilliant attacking team but incredibly fragile. They will beat Liverpool and then lose at home to Bournemouth. Just a really really fun team who manage to make top 7 without winning 3 in a row ever.

Terrible against Wolves - lacklustre

Very good in the first half vs Spurs, very bad in the second

Awful first 20 mins vs Forest before a classic United comeback with Bruno running the show

A really good performance vs Arsenal

Tactically poor against Brighton but with plenty of good moments - manager screwed up

Chaos vs Bayern but legitimately the best team for 25 mins and a classic De Gea big game error from Onana puts us on the back foot.

AWB injured
The mighty Shaw injured
Varane injured
Martinez clearly struggling after metatarsal
Amrabat injured
Hojlund injured
Mount injured

Give us a chance to get a team out. It’s very early days. I believe that Onana, Mount and Hojlund have already improved us and that will show in results. Massive game tonight at Burnley and then two home league games vs Palace and Brentford to potentially get to the next break with 15pts. Beat Galatasaray and become clear favourites for 2nd place in group. Beat Palace at home to start the defence of the League Cup. UTR

Best thing about this entire unhinged rant is that it seems to claim that people hate Utd while they love Chelsea. Also that Utd were the third best team last year, but whatever.

Happy to wager you $250 that Utd don't finish in the top 4 this year.
