I remain hopeful that the end of this season will play out like the 2014 champions league final with Leicester being Atletico Madrid and Spurs being Real Madrid.

As a Spurs fan, I'm annoyed. But still, I'd rather come 2nd in the league to Leicester than any other big club ainec so I can't be THAT annoyed.

Spoken like a true Spurs fan

What about coming third behind Leicester and Arsenal?
04-03-2016 , 04:03 PM
What about coming fourth behind Utd and getting knocked out of the CL qualifier?
04-03-2016 , 04:18 PM
Nah Spurs 4th, City 5th and City winning the CL is what dreams are made of.

I mean, it's a question of what do you want / expect from the manager of a club like Everton. Most fans expect way too much, and are too quick to demand change and improvement without any understanding of exactly what needs to be changed or how it might improve anything.

I like Bob's simplicity of style and I appreciate the high-variance nature of his approach. He took over from a superb manager who had over-achieved for a decade, but who had done so by shrewdly managing a limited budget and grinding out results. Bob was ambitious enough to believe he could drive the club even further forward by imposing a winning mentality on the club, and while that was always unrealistic it's too early to judge him as a failure. Managers don't get anywhere near enough time to have a meaningful impact on long-term performance.

Bob's ambitious / naive plan has backfired pretty hard this season, and we've thrown away countless winning positions despite being the "better" side (mostly superficially, sure) but it's been an honest attempt to entertain and succeed. Of course our home fans are mostly imbeciles and the effort is lost on the majority, as is the fact that the hostile atmosphere at Goodison has been super counterproductive and has cost us almost as many home points as our second half defending.

I'm sure there's a parallel universe somewhere in which we're doing what Leicester are doing in this reality, with exactly the same team and tactics. I'm fine with Bob staying and rolling the dice again next season, whether or not we win the FA Cup. Like I say, at least it's an honest attempt to drive us forward, and such ambitious plans require trust and time.

LO what is the points handicap in our bet again? CBA to go look it up.

The main issue a bunch of the Everton fans I know have is his inability to react to in-game situations, i.e. today where he does close to a like for like with Mirallas on for Deulofeu, then does nothing else until it's far too late

Utd giving up 24pts

By my reckoning Everton need 13pts from 8 games to lock it up, assuming Utd keep winning. Could be a lot closer than it looked like being a month or so ago...

Everton's last 3 games are Leicteser/Sunderland/Norwich. Leicester could legit be playing that game to win the title and I expect Sunderland/Norwich to need results to avoid relegation so might be a god sweat! Alternatively they could have the title done and dusted then show up hungover and lose 3-0.

yeah, I'm feeling a lot less comfortable about it than I was in the 78th minute of the West Ham match a month ago

My understanding is that Spurs would get in under those circumstances.

Indeed they would, unless Liverpool win the Europa.

That's my understanding too. I think Liverpool would have to win the Europa as well to keep 4th out of the CL.

Make it happen then can't be worse odds than bloody leicester winning the league
04-03-2016 , 05:21 PM
if we gonna get that improbable then may as well hope spuds finish 2nd to leicester on goal difference as a result of losing 9-0 to toon on the last day of the season

Won't matter. Spurs still get CL football regardless. Need us to win the Europa AND City to win the CL for your dream scenario.
