Weather forecast for Brisbane suggests there’s a good chance of just the 2nd drawn Test match since July last year.

These days, Tests rarely go past 4 days let alone 5 and end up drawn.

i did a double take the other day. i was up early, the cricket was on, our lead was 450 or so in the third innings of the match vs nz and it was coming to the close of play

i was thinking we might as we keep going and bat half of the following morning session, that'll give us five and a half sessions to bowl them out, plenty of time

turns out it was day 2

Seriously how is Ben Stokes bowling 23 overs

And I'm going tomorrow when the forecast was 2mm - it is now up to 15mm. Oh well - I'll start drinking early and make sure to stop off at the German club if it gets rained out again

crawley may not be in the top 100 opening test batsmen oat but when he scores 16 off the second over including back to back sweet cover drives, you cant help but feel a slight tightness in the trousers area

England once again incapable of going 3 tests without collapsing in a heap

Great day at the cricket - not too humid and nice breeze. Plenty of beer drunk. I was unhappy when Marsh was dismissed but happy with the final score. Head basically holding the batting together atm.

Ben Stokes bowled over 36 overs this game and has very predictably done his hamstring. GJ everyone. Someone save this guy from himself.

Hopefully the other 30 odd tons weren’t all in dead rubbers where the pressure was totally off

Nice win today, Baz ball looks shocking when it doesnt come off...

Of course it does, its high risk cricket with far greater appeal in todays environment than the 2,5 runs per over Test cricket I grew up with.

Funny that under Bazball England has become an inconsistent team that can look good at times and utterly hapless other times... because that's exactly who we've been since the 13/14 Ashes. I guess we're more entertaining now?

Goes back a lot further than 2014. In the 80s they lost Test series to NZ and Pakistan then went on to win in India.

Yeah he basically acts as an Australian ambassador now - think our equivalent to crocodile Dundee to India

At least in England the grounds are slightly bigger even if the pitches are largely similar now - for the most part slow roads

Ashwin retires, going out halfway through an away series in Australia like his idol Graeme Swann.

Seriously though, what a player.

Time to retire Hazlewood, his body is too unreliable, and getting injured mid-Test puts extra strain on Starc and Cummins, especially if we insist on picking a semi-fit Marsh who can’t bowl his fair share.

Hazlewood out for the series, no reason to select him for the two Test tour to Sri Lanka, and then ther’s the WTC Final if Australia makes it. We need to move our players on and we shouldn’t allow them all to choose when they will retire.

We don’t want Khawaja, Smith, Starc, Lyon and Hazlewood all retiring after the Sydney Ashes Test. Do we retire Khawaja and Hazlewood now and bring in some fresh blood? Or do we stuff around for two years like we did by allowing Warner to carry on past his expiry date?

Looking at the ages of this Australia team one has to think they are there for the taking next year at the Ashes. England of course will completely fail to do so and make these old geezers look 10 years younger and retire on top.

Fyp

Only Head in their top 6 averages over 30 in 2024

Tbh England’s batting is weak too with only 3 top order players performing consistently
