A washout or Aus win vs SA at least puts England's destiny in their own hands.

Copious copium, hopium and opium.

Washout it is. I saw reports that other group matches could be rain affected.

That would be a shame, but the best 2 sides would get through if every other game is rained off, so no controversy possible really

I went to sleep with AFG 3/37 assuming they’d get bowled out for 200 or so and England would win. Was very shocked to see they scored 7/325.

Woke up with England 6/270 and Root having scored his century.

England 10/317 and they are out.

England have been dreadful in white ball for quite some time now. Last time I remember them being good was 498 vs the Netherlands.

I don't even think they were that great when they won the T20 world cup

England are terrible - just finished the game. Really looking forward to the English coming out here at the end of the year to add to their misery.

Rain gets its second win within a few days.

Host nation finishes last in their group.

growing up in England as a cricket fan as I did in the 70s and 80s and living through the 90s and early 00s as a young adult, I have an ingrained and immovable PTSD about England being totally **** at cricket.

Even during the periods of sustained success...particularly in the Strauss and Vaughan years, I never ever shook the belief that success was a mirage and our shitness returned. Bazball has been an enjoyable few years but it's always felt more like a hot streak at the blackjack table rather than something with strong enough foundations to endure.

I haven't cared about 1 day cricket in at least 20 years but losing to the Afghans in a meaningless tournament just reinforces our shitness and will transfer the lack of belief over to the test format

Let’s give Afghanistan some credit, they very well could beat Australia and they are very motivated to do so because we refuse to play them outside of ICC tournaments.

AUS v AFG, another washout

Games in Dubai: 4-5
Games in Pakistan: 10-11
Washouts in Pakistan: 3 so far

The SFs and Final do have a reserve day.

Hoping that India don’t make the final.

The weather hasn't been kind to this tournament and I can feel for Pakistan who's hosting an ICC event for a gap of 29 years. Their team was also knocked out very early in the tournament.

Imagine being a NZ/SA supporter now who wants to go to the Champions Trophy final.

Gonna have to book flights to 2 countries and arrange 2 sets of accommodation...

There's a pretty good reason it's hard to believe he's 14

Just like Shahid Afridi was 17 as an international. They aren’t so good at reporting birthdays in rural areas.

Ben Kellaway has improved his best Championship score in three successive matches.

A stunning innings of 181 not out boosted his side to a massive 549 for nine declared against Kent, the hosts struggling to 156-8 in reply.

It was a maiden, and chanceless, century for the 21-year-old Welsh all-rounder as Glamorgan piled on the runs.

Unable to declare in a must win T20 game and with the weather looming they took an option that I've never seen before:

Pretty funny and they should just change the rule and allow declarations in OD cricket. Before limited overs became a thing you could declare in a 1 day match as that was often the only way to force a result.

It is funny how players are refusing to go back to PSL and joining IPL teams for the remainder of the tournament. India is running the sport and that's not a good thing for the sport on a whole.

Other games had been rain-affected or washed out. They needed a win which was never in doubt except for a washout.

They won the toss. They batted. They … battted.

Stupidity.

So MLC is coming to the Oakland this year! Looking at tickets. 8 consecutive days of cricket. They are selling all matches pass (10 matches) for $120. I'll aim for 2 matches. Washington and NY seem like the big ticket teams. Seattle and Texas look good on paper too but maybe lol olds.

Going with a friend with no cricket exposure for one game. He finds it amusing there is a pro sports team with the name SF Unicorns
