MMA fans. I'm one. I started the argument itt that you're now echoing. What I'm bringing up is different and legitimate.

Many of them were totally oblivious to the possibility that this may signal the end of Conor fighting MMA (at least for quite a while). I usually would get back that he's too competitive and wants to fight Khabib or whatever.

Fighting isn't like golf or basketball. Elite dudes don't necessarily love it. Nick Diaz has spoke to this in his own incoherent way. Look at Carlos Condit. GSP, etc, etc. They love training, again this differs from the paradigm that others use when relating it to team sports.

I definitely think Diaz 3 happens.

But I dunno if he fights Lee, Ferguson, etc

Right, that's exactly what I said too (in regards to my previous posting I referred to originally).

Diaz/Conor 3 in a boxing match would be fun

Prbly likely if Conor takes that path.

That also wouldn't exclude a third UFC match.

Anyone who doesn't think that a guy who has just had his 1st kid & a (probably) once in a life time 100mill payday in an incredibly dangerous sport is at risk of retiring is an idiot.

He does seem to genuinely like to fight and I do think he wants to build himself as the biggest fighter of all time.

Whether he does or not I dunno

Conor said he wanted to fight again in the UFC this year. He said during the press conference tour that the reason he wanted the UFC fight this year was because he thought Forbes rich lists was Jan-Dec. He talks alot about starting McGregor promotions and how at his age Floyd was fighting on undercards.

I agree that there is a chance he just calls it a day but at the same time all his talk/actions point to a guy that wants more.

It's going to be real hard to make $100mil in late August and get focused enough to fight again within a few months.

edit - I have always thought that Conors career will be a whole lot of nothing and him ever defending a belt is still suspect.

is there anyone that retired at the top at his prime?

seems incredibly unlikely given history

I'm not even saying he retires.

I'm saying he cashes checks boxing for a while.

He has told people he wants to be a billionaire, the guy is very ambitious & he wants to compete in mma & WILL compete in mma again. After this fight he will negotiate a new deal with the UFC(stated by Dana) & there will be no need to do boxing again. If he does well but loses on the 26th of august then a fight with Paulie sometime next year is likely, if he beats Floyd then he 100% fights in boxing again & if he gets embarrased he 100% comes back to the ufc and never boxes again.

Conor isn't Ronda Rousey, he doesn't even want to act as he has turned down several roles thus far, dude loves fighting & in his prime right now. He will fight diaz trilogy, fight in Ireland at crow-park and fight for 170lb title before he retires, those are all goals he wants before he retires.

Nothing is analogous.

He's going to get a paycheck equal to 5-8+ MMA fights for him. Will he come back to fight anyone but like Diaz or GSP for 8-12M?

Prince naseem(boxer) retired at 28 but he had injury problems with his hands, Conor has no injury issues.

Boxing is the big boy money Exo.

You're comparing getting paid on TV to making movies.

He's not going to get paid 25M to fight bums.

There's some fights there, I alluded to them. But a lot of them pay him a lot less with a lot more risk to bodily and career harm.

UFC also knows if they butter his bread too thick they risk some fallout from everyone else. Rising tide lifts all boats and some such.

Will the UFC let him keep boxing though or is he going to be able to use Ali act?

Floyd is 1 thing but can't imagine they are gonna be thrilled with him fighting someone like Paulie.

You know nothing bro, Conor fought Eddie Alvarez and did 1.3mill ppv's with 17mill gate, the dude brings close to 100mill per event in the ufc to fight virtual nobodies. Conor vs Paulie does the same amount of revenue as Conor vs ferguson/k.lee/max holloway/barboza/gaethje, Conor vs khabib in russia is 2mill+ ppv, vs nate diaz in trilogy fight again is 2mill + ppv, vs Tyron woodley for third belt n to make history does 2mill+ ppv & vs gsp is the biggest ufc fight in history. Conor has many huge fights left in the ufc bro, the only fights he does in boxing that are huge is vs Paulie & Canelo & he has to look good vs Mayweather for either fight to materialize.

Very easy for Conor to tell the ufc to give him 30mill+ or he retires, they are paying him right now like 15-20% of total revenue & he's getting 10-15mill per fight, they can afford to give him double the amount or else he really does retire & they don't want that so he will get his way.

That was a unique event.

It wasn't his sixth defense and the equivalent of Thales Leites in there with him.

I assume Westley takes back what he said about me constructing strawmen.

The UFC doesn't only negotiate with Conor Exo. At a certain point the UFC are spiting themselves by caving to extreme demands. There's fallout from Conor getting paid a crazy sum in comparison to everyone else.

His benefit is also diluted if he's cutting into the profit margin to the degree you're proposing.

^^^ 155lbs is the deepest division in the ufc though bro, it's not like one of those shallow divisions, there are many challengers for Conor at that weight. I will agree that i don't think Conor fights for that much longer, i can see him finishing his 4 fights he has left on his contract & retiring in the 2-3 years. I'de like to see him fight khabib, nate diaz, holloway, woodley for 170lb belt & gsp & then retire, hopefully he gives the mma crowd those fights b4 calling it quits.

It's a fake revenue that UFC never sees. A PPV provider snap takes 50% and sends UFC a check for the rest.

$17M gate is also a joke that UFC only got to try once in NY, everybody got destroyed on secondary market with tons of tickets still available right before the fight. Realistically they top out at $10-11M

So there's absolutely no way that they can afford Conor at 30

There's already a falling out over money happening, the paradigm shift is in effect & they will have to change their pay structure moving forward. Stipe(hw champ), mighty mouse, gsp, diaz bros etc all had or are currently having disputes over money with the company. This started when the company sold for 4.2billion & the reebok deal & then the fighters union formation. So yea, if the UFC doesn't change their pay structure they will have huge problems moving forward, they are feeling it right now & that's independent from what the company pays Mcgregor.

If Conor does anything other than embarrass himself against FM then he is going to be able to command huge paycheques. Not 100mill, but huge in UFC terms.

You offer someone to fight him who normally gets 100-500k per fight 2 mill, see how many turn it down.
