Never thought I would say this.. but there is a realistic future that doesn't have football as we know it.

In 15 years the sports pecking order will be as follows:

1. Baseball
2. Basketball
3. Golf
4. Soccer

So is that ranking by youth participation, professional league revenue generation, television market share, or out of your ass?

I think a bigger deal is broken bones for young kids. You can really screw up your growth plates if you have a major injury like a broken leg as a child.

I bought him a glove for his 1st bday that is in a few days. Training starts in the spring time. I want a dominant T-Baller.

Besides baseball I want to focus on golf. IMO golf is a great game, teaches you a lot of respect/etiquette, and will be something I can play with him as I advance in age.

I'll get him into basketball as an Elementary student, and if he's good and likes it I will happily support the hoooopz.

Other than that I can't for see him playing anything else.

LOL @ any parents who lets their kid play football. Besides feeding them drugs there isn't much worse you can do.

Professional boxers have long suffered from puglist's dementia.

I am sure there is damage done at the amateur level too.

As much as football? I am not so sure because the first thing boxers learn is protecting the head.

I was the starting tailback when I was... 8? But I don't remember a single play. Chances I got routinely concussed? I think we got shut out for the season (in points, I mean. I know we had zero wins) and were (racist ban) an all white team in a mostly black league, if that helps you determine concussion probability

And my mom cleverly tricked me into thinking I was ineligible to play after that one season, and I never played football in a league or with pads again

If it had been five years later in their marriage, no way my mom would have even caved in to allow the one season.

Csbbbbbbb

In boxing the goal of the sport is to punch the other guy in the head. I think anyone with common sense throughout the history of boxing could probably guess it's bad for their brain. The "known risk" factor, let's call it, is much higher in boxing.

Many professional boxers now start fighting professionally as young as 12 years old and they start training well before that.

Possible solution: Have all the defensive players wear the covers. Offensive players don't!
Could you have a really thin hard cover/coating over the soft cover, so you get the "slippery" benefits of the hard cover but the impact benefits of the soft one?

My guess is right now its:
1. Soccer
2. Baseball
3. Basketball
4. Football
5. Hockey
6. Golf

I doubt its any different in 15 years.

If you mean national media attention, football will be #1 for a long time.

Can we all agree to compromise by eliminating football but allowing basketball to be played '90s Knicks style from pee wee leagues on?
