Oh that's a good one. And they lose because Mercury Morris fumbles without being hit.

LDO. Nice to see many others mention this also.

As a Mizzou grad I've got two biggies...

1, 1990, refs realize it's 5th down before Colorado snaps the ball. Unranked ****ty Mizzou beats #1 31-27. I was there and hate CU with a passion like no other.

2, 2007, #1 Mizzou beats Oklahoma in the Big 12 title game and plays for the National Championship.

Or Mizzou beating Auburn just 2 years ago and playing for the Natty.

Maybe, but not guaranteed and was a weird situation. The rankings going in were:

1. Florida St
2. Ohio St
3. Auburn
4. Alabama
5. Mizzou

Auburn and Mizzou played before the OSU game while Alabama wasn't even playing in the title game. So Mizzou could have won which would have done no good assuming OSU takes care of business against Michigan St. Furthermore, even if Mizzou won and OSU lost, the human element in the BCS could have kept Bama ahead of Mizzou in the polls and elevating them to the title game. And honestly, Bama was a better team than Mizzou that year. Undefeated FSU was never losing to Duke and probably would have stayed ahead of Mizzou if they had.

So the way that day was laid out, too many weird things had to happen and I was never overly hyped about it. Great game to watch though, unless you enjoy defensive battles.

Have any Boston slappies got angry about the Buckner grounder through the legs play yet? I thought they loved to hate on that guy. I remember reading something not too long ago about how he's never been able to live it down and I really felt bad for him.

What alot of people don't remember is it was a tie game. He makes that play all it does is send it to the next inning. Making that play would not have won the WS for the Sox.

Seems like the ideal sporting event to change would be something that sent you into a deep depression complete with horrifying flashbacks and made you completely reevaluate the role of sports in your life.

Can't think of anything that fits the bill though.

Yep. SB 2008 was the only game I have ever rooted for the Pats in my heart. I just wanted to see them go unbeaten so the 72 Dolphins would all commit suicide.

I wanted to snap call Wide Right ITT, but after a few days of thought my choice would be Loyola Marymount shipping the 1990 NCAA tournament after Hank Gathers died.

I still watch their games on YT from time to time. "The System" is an amazing & entertaining style of play.

Auburn holds on to win against FSU in the last seconds of the last BCS title game and beats that rapist.

49ers picking Aaron Rodgers may be a really close #2 after 2003 NLCS Game 6. That whole end 2012 NFC Championship Game was a calamity.

1999 NLCS

Mets make wildcard despite being down 2 games with 3 to play
Defeat 102 win D'Backs in LDS
Fall behind unbeatable Braves 3 games to 0
Dominant Rocker blows save in 8th inning of Game 4
Mets come from behind in 15th inning to win Game 5
Fall behind in Game 6, 5-0 to Kevin Millwood who had like a 2 ERA, took the GOD DAMN LEAD in both the 8th and 10th innings only to blow both and lose in 11

IT WAS DESTINY!!! Why Why ? :/

You wouldn't pick a game before and hope that Gathers didn't die?

Would Dale Earnhardt dying the way he did qualify? Of course you can counter that with if he doesn't die safety regulations for racing don't get the kick in the ass they desperately needed. So it may not even be that great of a choice all things considered.

Man, I loved that LMU team and went to a few of their games that season. I've always maintained that if UNLV had lost to Ball State in the sweet sixteen, a game the Rebs were lucky to survive, then LMU would have won the title.

I mean, we are saying changing it now given we have the knowledge of what happens the rest of the day. You don't have to go back and change it before kickoff, not knowing that tOSU would lose.

The only question is whether a 12-1 SEC Champ Mizzou is ranked higher than 11-1 Alabama. Everyone knows Mizzou was the weaker team, but they would still get to #2. Being the SEC Champ with a 25% chance to title should be higher than having Colorado lose 1/2 a championship from 25 years ago imo.

Yes, this +1000. Like I wrote earlier, we had to literally tear two guys off each other who started fighting in my friend's parent's living room at the end of the game. Even us breaking it up wanted to fight the LakerFan, but had a tad more restraint. We were near totally irrational.
