So one of my uncles is into genealogy and sends me stuff occasionally. Just got a PDF chart showing some guy named Veit Fridlin born in 1651 in Roigheim Germany is my greatx8 grandfather. His grandson eventually said lolGermany and emigrated to USA #1 in the 1730's and over the next couple generations Americanized their name to Freedline.
