Charles really ****ed up on Sun. I didn’t have much time yesterday to follow interviews - what did he say about that mistake?

Well, glad to see the expectations have shifted and it's a disappointment for Checo if he doesn't beat one of the 2 championship favorites. He did very well in the Sprint to even give himself that opportunity on Sunday and has been very good in the other 3 races.

Charles blundered massively himself and if not for Checo's blown engine and shitty safety car luck (both out of Checo's control), he'd be a couple pts. clear of Charles in the standings.

Verstappen misses a race because of 12 penalty points on his license

Constructors: Mercedes - Red Bull - McLaren - Aston Martin

Aston Martin have the 3rd best car, courtesy of Lawrence Stroll investments, but his driver team gets beat by NOR/RIC.
Vettel wins a race, though, as does Norris.

Ferrari a solid 5th. No play for 4th or 6th. lol Italians

6-8 is close call between Alpine, Alpha Tauri, Williams, but Williams gets 6th

9 is Alfa Romeo. Bottas does a clean sheet in qualification vs Zhou

10 LOLHAAS. Zero points this year again. The last year of Mazepin.
Haha, in just started reading the thread and it's crazy how completely wrong this already is! Not that I would have done better

Yeah Williams always seems to be over-rated.

Mercedes might have an upgrade for Miami which should resolve some of their issues.

Honestly, I'll be disappointed if it isn't some Wacky Races-type ingenuity.

was James "Sonny" Crockett offered a spot in the starting grid for today's race?

If you didn't see Brundle's grid walk before the race, try and find it somewhere. It was hilarious.

The show wasn’t up to much. I tried to watch the ‘opening ceremony’ the other night but it was just horrible, like the be opening ceremony at the Tour de France.
The national anthem appeared to have been sung by a bloke pulled out of the crowd.
The circuit was a terrible for camera coverage with parts of it obscured.
The only highlight was Brundle.

the race itself was good again. great that leclerc and max are really battling right to the end of these races. its shaping up to be the most compelling season for a decade

imagine if merc get their act together and we have all three of them at roughly equal pace at the front

There was only a race going on after the safety car. Relying on that every week isn’t good.

All in all it was quite meh

Highlights were Verstappen overtaking Leclerc for the lead, after having missed more than half of the race prep.
Perez cannot even overtake Sainz with better and fresher tires.

The other highlight was Magnussen allowing Schumacher to pass, while keeping the others at bay. That was genius teamwork.

I thought it was pretty lame. The best description I saw was a US version of Sochi.

They reported on radio that he had an issue with a sensor and dropped 30 HP for the rest of the race as a result. If not for that, he would've easily gotten Sainz on lap 16 or 17 and it probably would've been an interesting fight with Leclerc. In any case, I've been pretty impressed with his pace so far this season.

Man, if Merc make this a 3-team battle, it could be the most epic season. Should be a great season regardless with the Ferrari v. RB and Max v. Charles battles.

They are always pretty hilarious. People just getting in his way and not finding anyone noteworthy to interview. On the Melbourne GP grid he ended up interviewing some CEO of a sponsor of the event just because he looked important.

The circuit was ok. It would have had more passing if the Mercedes engines had more power.

Horner did say because of the sensor issue that saw Checo drop 5 seconds from Sainz before the first pit stop that he was down on h/p for the rest of the GP. But before that I wasn't confident he was able to overtake him or undercut him anyway.

I would like to see Alonso in that seat next year and Oscar at Renault.

It would've been a relatively easy overtake. Max's lap times compared to Leclerc in the first stint and Checo's compared to Sainz were very similar.
Max was putting up almost the same times, but had trouble fighting the dirty air to get into DRS zone. Then it took no time at all to pass once he finally got DRS. Then Max was steadily pulling away from him with clean air.

Checo finally got into DRS then immediately had the sensor issue, but it likely would've been a super easy pass with full power b/c RB already had an advantage on the straights and then add DRS on top of that. Sainz would be a sitting duck.

I would've liked to have seen Checo's pace compared to Leclerc once they were both in clean air.
