Conditions so brutal. Doesn't look good for restart.

Jenson's good in the booth. Liked his explanation on the Gasly hissy fit.
Shocking how FIA keeps fk'ing up. It's like they share personnel with Ferrari.

Looks like points will be 6–4–3–2–1 and obviously no Fastest Lap.

Scrap that, race about to start. 25-50% race time means top 9 get points:

13–10–8–6–5–4–3–2–1 (no Fast Lap)

Max so good.

Charles the quali expert, always seems to choke when pressure is at the highest.

FIA today:
- Crane on track during race
- Could've probably started sooner
- Finish flag was not clear (1 round too soon?)
- Not clear if Max is World Champion

Incredible

My assumption would be trying to now take on the Alonso persona now that he is leaving the team and to make sure he won't get pushed around in the intra-team rivalry with Ocon given he is the established driver there?

Can I just say and this isn't a defence or excuse that this isn't so much about the FIA as yes ultimately they are responsible for laying down what the regulations are to the local officials but it is the local officials that are going out there and recovering the vehicles but my assumption is that these guys are so enthusiastic about F1 and not just a driver or rivalry as we see with so many events that have huge sell-outs but F1 in general - they just love F1 and it was probably that enthusiasm that saw them just note from race control that there was a car to recover and just went out without realising whether the track was clear to be able to do it.

Marshals and definitely vehicles are not supposed to go on track until they get told by race control. If this is indeed local people being too eager then Suzuka needs to lose the race as that would be completely unacceptable especially after Bianchi. I think race control messed up but we will hear about what happened in the coming weeks. All the confusion about the points is 100% on the commentators. F1 at all time showed full points and showed Max as WDC right after the penalty was given to Leclerc.

So Max is World Champion.

Reduced points only apply if they don’t get a chance to finish on a chequered flag, laps races is irrelevant.

That was the most anticlimactic World Championship clinching race ever. Thanks Lolclerc and FIA.

This, best part was the interview like hey you didn't clinch on to next week, then like 34 seconds later, but nah come back you just won

That first turn 1 was some impressive driving by Max, it looked Leclerc had him beat from the start.

Amazing performance by Vettel and great battle with Alonso. Great strategy call by Alonso to pit so short before the end of the race. He was being reeled in by Russell and saved himself 2 poiints with that move (11 milliseconds off 4)

And finally Latifi gets 2 points, thanks to team strategy.

analysing a team's salary cap spending and breaches almost at the end of the following season seems like a somewhat less than optimal way to run things.

like...if it is the giant competitive advantage that Ferrari and Merc are claiming and points need to be deducted or w/e, it's almost totally farcical to strip RB or Max of a title 12 months later. (there are precedents...eg Australian rugby league where a team was stripped of 2 competition wins and all it's other results over a 5 year period).

but deducting them points for the following season (or more likely now the 2023 season if that's the decision) is utterly ridiculous because it isn't really penalising the transgression. For sure Horner and Max and most other teams who hadn't yet won a title would have been happy to cheat/bend the rules/however you want to describe it to win the title in 21 and accept a penalty for 2 years down the line.

Cost cap was never going to result in meaningful penalties the first year for minor breaches. Mercedes and Ferrari are just upset RedBull figured that out and they didn't. RedBull probably gets a fine and a cost cap reduction for 2023 and maybe reduced wind tunnel time. Or if FIA wants to be funny they can deduct 200 WCC points for 2021.

I thought the RB breach was seen as major?

Minor breach so less than 5 percent over although 5 percent is 7 million dollars which is actually a lot of money for upgrades in F1. Still no details though as RedBull seems to be considering appealing and FIA can't release details until RedBull accepts FIA findings.
