So Dan is the reserve driver for Red bull. My bet is once Helmut caught wind of Dan taking a sabbatical that either he thought to himself that you couldn't have that talent on the sidelines and needed to put it to some use and have it there just in case or its bad for Red bull's reputation to have an ex Red bull driver on the sidelines and needed to offer him something with a very to replacing Checo is 2024 as the more solid no. 2 driver behind Max that won't beat Max but will do a better job.

And while you may say what if red bull do a Gasly on Checo but I don't think that can happen for at least next year with Checo's sponsors.

props to Ferrari for FINALLY pulling it out in the end, though against any other top tier driver, Leclerc would have been dead meat due to strategy.

Both times Checo came out of the pits, he passed a slower car (Vettel, then Hamilton) only to be re-passed in the next DRS zone and then waste time making the pass again. That probably cost him 2nd.

Hard to see Max not winning the next 2 titles. The four previous men to win 3 consecutive titles (Fangio, Schumacher, Vettel, Hamilton) all went on to win a fourth title in a row.

perfect encapsulation of how Checo wasn't up to standard. his car had the pace but he made crucial mistakes and then wasn't quick enough.

It is hard to see who would be suitable to sit next to Max in 2024. Norris refuses to leave McLaren.

Lol Checo - missed laps 30 to 43 and somehow Checo happened to lose 2nd. What is it with the 2nd driver - why can't Ferrari and Red bull be like Mercedes?
