How about people man the **** up and just finish the game. Manage it as if you have to play extra innings then you don't run into the problem. That or Selig comes to his sense that home field advantage from the all star game is the worst idea ever, then you can manage to throw everyone in the game and not care if you lose.

The crowd would love a HR derby at midnight to settle it!!!!!!!!1
Maybe throw in a "young guns" component to the game. Each team gets 3 pitchers and 2 position player, all rookies, that can only play if it goes to extras.

They wouldn't play 99% of the time, but it would allow the league to showcase its up and coming stars, and to avoid extra inning messes.

Celebrity softball game should decide it. Imagine home field riding on the bat of Kenny Mayne!

How about just best record of the WS teams? How many players are on the field that have 0 shot at even making the play offs? What do they have to worry about winning or losing. Now if the entire "WS favorites" were play, then maybe you have an argument.

did anyone else hear McCarver say that Michael Young was a "professional" baseball player, and included his defense as a positive?

Its better than the NFL.
Which in most cases giving neither of the winning cities a chance to be reality close to the game.

The thing is, both teams sorta did that tonight. NL saved Cook for multiple innings. AL saved two closers in case of extra innings. The only solution is to go back to old school where some starters go 3+ innings and multiple pitchers don't play in the game.

That doesn't mean it's a good idea, it just means it's a different stupid idea than the NFL has.

Having the team with the best record get home field? Would never work. That's why the NBA and NHL don't do it. Seriously....is there an actual reason why baseball doesn't do is that way?

It's inherently flawed since the AL primarily plays against the AL and the NL plays against the NL.
Edit: Before interleague play was introduced record would be irrelevant.

CLUTCH UGGLA IMO
