Poker Notes is a Windows taskbar application to help online poker players review recently played hands. After you finish a hand, your hole cards will automatically appear.

It's a snap to review recently played hands. Clicking on a pair of hole cards will pop up a window with an easy-to-read history of the hand. Mousing over one of the positions ("BB", "CO", etc) shows the player's name.

You can quickly jot down any notes about a tricky hand, for later review using the PokerNotes Reviewer. Between sessions, you can use Reviewer to look back on hands you took notes on, search for threads on similar hands (NL only), or post a thread about your hand. The Reviewer can pop up a browser, load your favorite poker forum, and paste the hand into the edit box correctly formatted to display nicely.

Poker Notes supports Texas Hold'em on the following site:
  • Full Tilt Poker
  • Party Poker
  • Pacific Poker
  • the OnGame Network
  • Poker Stars
  • Ultimate Bet
  • Absolute Poker
Limit, No Limit, Pot Limit, Cash Games and Tournaments are all supported.

PokerNotes also includes an integrated equity calculator, PokerCrunch, which is similar to PokerStove. When you Crunch a hand from the reviewer or the taskbar, the board, positions, and known holes will automatically be loaded into PokerCrunch. From there, you can speculate on some of your opponents' other holdings and back-track through the hand by removing the river and turn cards. PokerCrunch will automatically update the equity results any time you make a change--no need to click "Evaluate" and "Stop":

In the near future, PokerNotes will be a shareware application with a short trial period. This beta version is free and will operate for 90 days.

Your feedback is important! The bug reports, feature suggestions, and general impressions of the 2+2 community will continue to lead to major improvements, just as this version is a huge leap over the initial beta. Please tell me about your experience with PokerNotes and how PokerNotes can be improved.

Thanks!

Does this work for sngs on ongame, or just cash games?
I will have a look at it if it does. Seems nice.

In theory SnGs on OnGame should work, although I can't test it myself since I am U.S.-based. Want to try it and let me know?

If it doesn't work, I can probably fix it, if you let me know what error it gives you.

Thanks!

I downloaded Notes and tried it out a little bit...very nice!

A couple of notes on notes:

I went through the steps of obtaining an OpenID to post on the forum and went to the tech support forum, but I couldn't find any way to post a message, so I'll post it here.

I setup my task bar vertically on the left side of my screen. This allows only two hands to be displayed in the task bar by PN.

When PN is importing hands, it's importing each hand twice, as displayed in both the task bar and the "review". If I use the "review" to view "older" hands, these hands are no longer duplicates.

I tried figuring out how to post a hand to 2+2, but I get the following message:

"Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing or mismatched.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error."

But great job so far; I like the search function and the posting capability looks like it could be good.

Which poker site are you using?

Thanks for the feedback! I'll be working on fixing all of these issues over the next few days.

When I use the PokerNotes shortcut it crashes with this in the error signature:

EventType : clr20r3 P1 : pokernotesband.exe P2 : 0.9.6.6
P3 : 485adf4c P4 : bandobjectslib P5 : 69.69.69.70 P6 : 48581e48
P7 : 2b P8 : 0 P9 : system.invalidcastexception

Using XP home with all patches up to date. The only odd thing I'm doing is that I have the stars hand history pointing to a shared folder on another PC.

PokerNotes Reviewer is still working ok and looking very nice . IMO it would be better if the suit symbols in the HH pane were a bit bigger, would make it easier to read.

Try clicking Options -> Text Size -> Increase. That should help. :-)

Sorry I meant relative to the text size. If you look in the top left pane where the hole cards are, the suit symbols are bigger (nicer & easier to see) than in the hand history pane for the same text size.

I don't have a fix for this yet, but I've uploaded a new version that should give me a slightly more useful error signature to work with.

Could you download the new version and reproduce the problem?

The suit-symbols in the hand-history pane are now 30% larger. :-)

Give Poker Notes 0.9.6.36 a try. Should be fixed.

Thanks for the excellent bug reports, by the way.

Seems like a really cool application

Any way of getting it to work without .net framework 3.5?
I'm having msiexec.exe crashing on me every time I try to install the .net update, and I think I might have to re-install windows to fix it which is a pain in the ass

I might be able to get it down to .Net 2.0 or greater. Would that work for you?

It's all working for me now
I'm only getting the most recent hand appearing on the taskbar - is there a setting for how many hands are shown or does PN decide by working out how much space is available?
In the crunch window would it be possible to show equity for each street without having to delete the river and turn cards?
If I put 35% or whatever in the box for a player's hand does it do an equity calc for that range of hands?

Ooops... I was playing with the crunch window while typing this post and got a crash: I just had '%' in one of the player's hand boxes while I was editing it.

That would have worked awesomely, I had 3.0 installed and working. But I ended up re-installing windows anyway, so now it's all good. I appreciate the offer and I'm looking forward to trying this out

Now I'm getting an access violation error as soon as I start it though
Both the reviewer and the toolbar seem to be crashing, poker crunch seems to be ok.

Anyone else had this?

That's pretty weird. Since reinstalling the operating system, have you run Windows Update to get all of the latest updates, service packs, and device drivers?

If you can find the error in Windows Event Viewer (Start -> Run -> eventvwr), it should contain more information about the crash. If you message me with a full copy of the details, that will help me narrow down the problem.

It works out how much space is available and shows the most recent hands. To see more hands, just move the slider to give PokerNotes more space.

That's a great idea! Expect it later today

Yes. A percentage means the top n% hole cards. For the order of the hands, I used the chart on this page (based on data provided by PokerRoom.com ranking all hands by the amount their players won/lost over 100 million hands).

Everything up to date and updated. Can't find anything in the Event Viewer though, checked all three categories thoroughly.
