I often datamine higher stakes players, not because I'm going to take a shot at beating them, but for educational purposes. I go to a website--which I don't even want to mention now because maybe they'll try to #$%@ that up for me too. Anyway, you can look up someones screen name and it displays thier stats for the whole year. LEts say you know of one particular opponent who wins 3.55 BB/100 on FTP in 275,225 hands. Hypothetically of course, not that I do this
Now I am not going to be sitting down with this player in a cash game under any circuumstances. However, is it an unfair advantage for me to datamine this particular player to try to imitate his VPIP, PFR, et cetera against other players?
I think FTP is realizing that sites like this exist. They don't want people to find out how many players loose. They also have some pros who seem to spend more time talking about Fill Tilt Poker on comercials then they actually spend playing on Full Tilt Poker. Now again. If this is such a problem, why are we allowed to datamine? You can't do this on Pokerstars.
