lolzors.....

If the end up banning, seizeing money from any regs who play legit and dont sell data or such just wait and see FTPs market share go from 36%(if thats what it is)to 20% or lower imo

Dont cut off the hands that feeds the mouth imo

Anyone who plays higher than $25NL can easily handle this. I know i have a nice easy setup and no risk.

Datamining has always been against their TOS, they just have a don't ask don't tell thing going on. I think you're still safe datamining as long as you don't go overboard with multiple clients as _dave_ mentioned above.

As worded it makes it prohibited to read hand histories posted on 2+2.

I often datamine higher stakes players, not because I'm going to take a shot at beating them, but for educational purposes. I go to a website--which I don't even want to mention now because maybe they'll try to #$%@ that up for me too. Anyway, you can look up someones screen name and it displays thier stats for the whole year. LEts say you know of one particular opponent who wins 3.55 BB/100 on FTP in 275,225 hands. Hypothetically of course, not that I do this
Now I am not going to be sitting down with this player in a cash game under any circuumstances. However, is it an unfair advantage for me to datamine this particular player to try to imitate his VPIP, PFR, et cetera against other players?

I think FTP is realizing that sites like this exist. They don't want people to find out how many players loose. They also have some pros who seem to spend more time talking about Fill Tilt Poker on comercials then they actually spend playing on Full Tilt Poker. Now again. If this is such a problem, why are we allowed to datamine? You can't do this on Pokerstars.

Actually it turns out that you can do this on poker stars with Hold Em Manager. I didnt' even know that. I just bought the program last week. Is PT3 or HM going to be banned alltogether now?

Its technically an unfair advantage to be able to get a scope of how that players plays, for any purposes, without actually sitting with that player and PLAYING them. Atleast thats the stance FTP/Stars is taking on the matter... why are we allowed to datamine? we arent if you follow the rules, the question should be "why is it so easy to datamine if we arent allowed" imo...

PT3&HM will import the first 30 observed hands from a table from either site, this is negotiated with both sites and allowed.
However both programs willl import observed hands that you acquire yourself either by buying them or using software to create them. In FTPs case all you have to do is open the table and HM/PT3 will import automatically. With Stars you have to have 3rd party software...

PT3/HM will NOT be banned.

This new rule is great for dataminers. Even bigger edge now what with less people doing it. If you cant justify to yourself the breaking of the rule.
