When they're LITERALLY WEARING NAZI THROWBACK UNIFORMS, I think it's okay to call them Nazis.

This Godwin's Law gambit is honestly the most apt Politics Forum equivalent of someone claiming wolf in a WW game I've ever seen, and Paul's now just babbling nonsense. This has been fun.

I mean I don't want to offend you, lots of people don't realize that their behaviors are outside of the norm to the point of making them repulsive at times, maybe even bonafide *******s, but I have to tell you from the info I have access to you are one of those.

See I just called you an *******. Just like dvaut said Dom's story was bull****. But it's non-offensive. So I didn't call you an *******?

You felt the need to put in a good word for Dom. Nobody was talking about Nazis until Goofy's hack ass showed up.
10-21-2017 , 09:13 PM
So tell me Trolly, why is it you put in a good word for Dom and aren't interested in anything now but posting more of Goofy's irrelevant discussion tactics?

"irrelevant discussion tactics?" Kid, you're the one going on about Greenwald and Berniebros and Godwin's Law and pretty much everything except exaggerated tales of veteran abuse.

I put in a good word for Dom because he's a decent chap and I think making this a referendum on his childhood memories is a recipe for an AIDS thread for a lot of reasons --turns out I was right about this, btw.

Kid, you're the one who posts irrelevant pictures of Gorka when literally no one was discussing Nazis before Goofy. I posted very real material about Vietnam. You made no such attempts. Fly and others brought up Bernie first. Goofy showed up to pester Dom and question his credibility. Two can play that game.

Like, dude, you can admonish me and talk down to me all you want, but it seems to me what you're truly mad with me about is I told your friendos to cut the crap with Dom because you a fanboy of Dvaut. So be it.

What amazes me about this thread is the ****ty narrative about right wing propaganda turning people into "military hero worshippers" Dvaut spewed forth. When people like Trolly, goofy and others idolize Dvaut. You're all guilty as sin as the same type as thinking of those "military hero worshippers".

Peace.

Because there's something wrong with liking the best poster we got. Jesus Paul, you're swinging at everything. Idolize is a bit strong, envious of his writing chops, sure.

The worst part of "military hero worship" isn't the "hero worship" part.

That's not to say dvault is a hero, is always right, and isn't sometimes an ahole.

There's a historical antecedent to that sort of military veneration in a different country a few decades earlier that is more commonly called the stab-in-the-back myth, we just adopted it to describe a very similar movement.
See, this is why I can't keep Fly on ignore...every once in awhile, he says something interesting.
10-21-2017 , 10:16 PM
okay, last thing: I just want to make it clear that I think Fly and other liberals like him are literally worse than Nazis.

Yeah, that’s the weirdest thing. In Fly/Dvauts mind you cannot say anything bad about them without denouncing all of liberalism. But they’re just aholes on the internet that have delusions of grandeur. Definitely not people who have earned any right to speak for liberals.

This could have been so much more interesting than devolving into an exercise to prove who is the worst poster.

Military worship. I caught myself diminishing trump by saying he **** on a war hero itt. There is a lot to unpack in the reverberations of what was highlighted in the mass memory propaganda and the vapid race to support the troops on both sides. We have Kelly with his ridic gambit yesterday.

And micro; to our earlier convo about the difference between the right and left and their use of misleading info/propaganda.

Fox ran an interview with a fake navy seal supporting trump. There was zero outcry from the right. However they are running this as their top story presently on Apple news:

Quote:
Rachel Maddow called out by fellow liberals for pushing anti-Trump conspiracy

Damn I read you for a bitter poster, did you find those cites btw?

Do you not get Trolly accuses me solely of throwing random **** in the conversation when Dvaut, Goofy, Fly throw around random **** first? That doesn't come from any place than zealous idolatry. Like I said, some you are as bad as people who engage in any form of hero worship like what was originally discussed here.

He's not the best poster. That's subjective. I find zz to be way more honest than most everyone around here even if his takes are strange, I find Mayo to be the most likeable guy with good takes on subjects whenever he posts, I find ChrisV to be a hell of a lot more reasonable on most topics (not painting a subject as either you are with us or against as others), and so forth.

Anyways have fun defending the dude who came out swinging at Dom as the best poster.

I’m not looking. I just said I would bet they exist. Nobody took me up on that.

Spitting basically didn't happen. Baby killer signs sometimes did.

But it should also be noted that as time went on, Vietnam War protesters, even the ones carrying those signs, were not derided in the way BLM or Occupy Wall St. demonstrators are today. Those who disagreed with those protesters tended to to have a lot more sympathy for the alternative viewpoint than they do nowadays.

Property Records are public record. You can find the name of the people who owned that house. It really should not be super hard to track them down or their kids down. Since your parents are still alive, maybe they are still alive. If you have husband and wife, and type that into google, there is a good chance it will just pop up.

I don't think that's true at all. Those protesters were shot by police and national guard, they were rioted on and assaulted by conservatives and unions, they were villified and called traitors by the President and other officials like Governor Reagan (called UC Berkeley a 4 year education in sex, drugs and treason), the real free speech movement grew out of the state sponsored suppression of anti-war along with civil rights protesters, anti-war proponents were fairly well blackballed from MSM, MLK was vilified for coming out against the war (and murdered exactly one year after his "Beyond Vietnam" speech, Muhammad Ali was despised....jeez, 1968 was practically revolutionary, the war was a big part of it and Nixon ran on a platform of crushing dissent.

I said as time went on. But maybe I have a biased memory. Maybe I thought there was more sympathy towards the protesters because my peers were those northeast educated Harvard types who you like to say aren't nearly as smart as they think they are. Did that include their opinion of the war?
