These stories were often way, way more preposterous and unbelievable than UFO sightings. Like I said, at least people reporting UFOs probably are confusing natural phenomenon for something extraordinary. NOT DOMINIC, NOT RARA, if only because it's tedious dealing with aggrieved people ITT, but *most* of these stories were surely complete fantasies.
Why? Seeing random **** in the sky and not being able to identify it is understandable. Look at how much rara has to contort himself to make up all the **** he has, including assumptions about motive and mindsets and all that, and then make it believable. Way more mental gymantistics going on.
This is just chez's dumb posts from earlier where his own internal beliefs about the treachery and violence of the Vietnam era leftist informs his beliefs about the probability of these fairy tales. It's just a bunch of circular reasoning and prove the power of these narratives. Like any good story, it reinforces what people desperately want to believe and serves a use for the lessons they want to lecture about, and so they cling to them deeply. We're 500 posts deep here and still not a single verified case, contemporaneous published account, nothing. And still the same cast of characters persist trying tons of dumb arguments to allow them some, literally any plausible space to keep repeating it.
