I don't know. But who's to say Fred isn't a Trump supporter? Have you had THAT awkward conversation with a black acquaintance who supported Trump? I have.
And no one has yet answer my out of morbid curiosity question: How do you explain the black people who voted for Trump? Are they racists?
Maybe they aren't infallible and foolishly voted against their own interests. White people do it all the time.
Total grunch, but I am very fascinated by the clearly wrong argument that Lestat is making that the fact that Trump voters are actually ashamed to support him is somehow a bad thing for liberals. Like, in an alternate universe where there's none of the supposedly decisive SJW shame machine in operation, they are voting for Trump twice or something?
The voters who would lie to pollsters because they don't want to be known as Trump supporters are not the same people who are outraged by PC culture.
Stan and people like him will never become overtly racist and the fact that everyone here refuses to give an inch on making the distinction between racist behavior born out of hatred and racist behavior stemming from ignorance is a problem of a magnitude which you have yet to understand (even as you try and process the frightfulness of a Trump victory).
I'll grant you that racism is like a pregnancy. You either are, or you aren't. But the reasons behind one's actions matter!
It's clear I'm not going to get anywhere so I'll leave you guys to sit around your high tower in 2017 like vultures waiting for someone who dare enters this forum with a dissenting view so you can all chant RACIST in unison before he finishes a thought. You can then put words in his mouth and thoughts in his head that he never held. You can also use Fly's tactic of assigning false equivalencies to your heart's content.
In the meantime, there's a real world out there. A world where inequalities exist in subtle degrees and ways you wouldn't know about. That's because everything forum hero Fly knows about racism he learned from watching TV or reading. And now he thinks he's an expert on racism and how to solve for it. Well good luck with that.
It's unfortunate any real merits your thoughts on racism might have are unlikely to see the light of day. The walls of this echo chamber have become impenetrably thick. Hopefully, sometime before 2020 you'll venture outside this self created bubble to help raise public consciousness on the merits of true equality for all. But you're gonna have to learn to do that without shouting down at people. It's doubtful most of you will be able to do that. I'll check back in 4 years. I fully expect to see most of you snowflakes right where you are now. Still crying and shouting among yourselves, giving hell to the occasional newbie who wanders in and still think you're helping.
Won't happen. He'll never feel alienated because he's perfectly comfortable with who he is, his life, and his friends. But he WILL take measures to lash out at the whiny crybabies who insist on lumping him in with Clement and shout him down from their high tower.
Again when you write this it's pretty clear that Stan is you(rural white Americans, notably, do not have black friends because there aren't any black people around), but you didn't vote for Trump, right?
Also if you want to call someone a "whiny crybaby" you may want to think through if 100% of your posts in this thread are whining about how your feelings were hurt because you can't buy racist Halloween costumes anymore. And, in the course of that hurt feelings, some version of you("Stan") will go one step further and politically cut off his nose to spite his face by voting Trump. What's the childlike behavior here, again? ****ing sharing Ta-Nehisi Coates articles, or voting for Trump as a measure to lash out at people who think you're racist. (p.s. "Stan" really showed them, huh?)
I'm not whiny. Troll and Wookie aren't whiny. But your candy ass literally will not stop complaining about how mean people are to you, how mean people are to Donald Sterling, how mean people are to Joe ****ing Paterno. You being pillow soft is not a problem the internet is going to fix, my man, so I return you to what started this, Trolly's excellent suggestion that you find a forum whose echo chamber is more attuned to your rhythm. You know, one where nothing gets called racist and nobody gets "tried" and "lynched" by people sharing negative opinions about their bigotry.
First, I never said they were BFFs. You are posting some of the most racist **** I've read in ITT so far. You are implying that a white guy can't have black friends (or visa versa) without there being some ulterior motive. So when I suggest to a black friend we go golfing Thursday, there's gotta be a catch, right? He's my token black golfing bud. It can't just be that we both enjoy golf and some friendly wagering and bragging rights? And I'm his token white friend that he has his black friends can make fun of?
You sound like a black Clement. You are so overtly racist you won't even allow that black and white person could even enjoy each other's company.
What in the devil...
I've literally said nothing of the sort. In fact, I've said the exact opposite, practically. The ONLY thing I've insinuated is that WHEN a black dude and white dude become friends, the likelihood of the white dude joining the Klan goes down immensely. That's a pretty innocent conjecture!
Except the non-bold, I did say that. If a dude is at your wedding and your child's baptism and on your bowling team and at your home for the games every weekend, that's a BFF.
Stan and people like him will never become overtly racist and the fact that everyone here refuses to give an inch on making the distinction between racist behavior born out of hatred and racist behavior stemming from ignorance is a problem of a magnitude which you have yet to understand (even as you try and process the frightfulness of a Trump victory).
...
But that's the exact distinction I was making!
Stan might have some racism swirling around but when push comes to shove he's not gonna run with it. His and Fred's children play together in the tree fort out back, for the love of God!
The whole point of me not accepting hypothetical Stan's hypothetical behavior is because I AM making distinctions (and I'm not the only one).
But Stan will take measures, and they don't sound like pro-social ones.

This is a known liberal echo chamber, if noobs stumble upon this forum and are oblivious of that fact, it's probably for the best (for all parties) that they are informed of our liberal ways sooner rather than later, and shown that their right-wing talking points aren't going to be treated with any more deference than any known right winger's. I mean, Well Named might take someone by the hand for a few posts if they're really selling the babe in the woods routine, but otherwise, I'm not aware of any regs who signed up to tediously help noobs or conservatives understand the world, and show them step by step where they're mistaken. The lord helps those who help themselves, or some such.
I maybe...maybe... would've considered Kasich. But I'd have grimaced. Take away Trump's complete unfitness for the office, and I dislike Cruz even more than Trump. I used to consider myself a full fledged Democrat, but I now think BOTH parties are corrupt as ****!
And for my "out of morbid curiosity" question to all those saying only a racist could vote for Trump... How do you explain all the black and Hispanic people who voted for him? Are they racist too?
For the record, I'm one of the biggest liberals on this forum and vote Dem 90-95% of the time, in all races both primary and general, and I do not embrace the idea that "all" Trump supporters are racist. Obviously, of 137 million voters, I don't think 63 million belong to the Aryan Nation. Some voted for Trump for tax reasons, others did because they're lifelong Republicans who were raised that way and vote party-line, still others did because they really can't stand the Clintons, and then there's the racist/xenophobic/bigot crowd. It's still up in the air as to what percentage fit into each category.
I agree with you about Cruz. Kasich seemed better than the bunch, although I think his record as some moderate has been overplayed by the media. Although noncompetitive, I thought George Pataki was an excellent candidate.
So basically you guys feel that racism is like beating someone up cause they are black but feeling like you just don't want them in your neighborhood is not really racism? IS that a good example of what this is about? You keep talking about false accusations of racism without ever defining where you set the lines.

Completely ignored my post on why tolerating just a little bit of racism is akin to white people in the 50s telling black people to be happy with their water fountains and lunch counters.

Stan doesn't want black folk in his neighborhood yet at the same time he's hosting Kwanzaa dinner parties for all his black peoples so I don't know what manner of bananapants is going on here.

Right, and this is why I'm a fan of "chant(ing) RACIST in unison" even though NOBODY ACTUALLY LITERALLY EVER JUST DOES THAT OMG WTF R U PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT because I feel like the white contribution to Civil Rights has been forgotten or ignored by other white people.
Let's watch this devastating video again:
Aside from the white folk getting the hoses and put on them just the same in all the demonstrations, in this video the lunch counter had 1 poor white boy receiving the majority of the abuse it would seem.
See, that young white boy is now an old white man, or perhaps he's passed away, and he doesn't use the internet, so he can't come around to "chant RACIST in unison" and say, YES OF COURSE IT'S RACIST AS ****, EVEN IF IT'S "JUST" A WATER FOUNTAIN OR A LUNCH COUNTER, IT MATTERS, AND I DIDN'T GET PUNCHED AND KICKED AND HAVE A HOUND BITE ME IN THE ASS FOR NOTHING!
It again speaks to that insidious assumption that all the liberals and progressives and whatevers are secretly just as racist and bigoted, only hiding it better.
Our hypothetical Stan might prefer to only be called (judged, chanted at, SCREAMED AT, etc) racist. I'm pretty sure he could find an old white man who would smack him and box his ears and tell him he wasn't raised right.
That's why I kinda write off anybody that uses SJW unironically. Aside from the darker pejorative meanings, it implies, young college kid that doesn't know how the world works, that it's a fad or phase they'll get over.
Before SJW there was bleeding-heart-liberal, and before that n----r-lover, same as it ever was.
Simon & Schuster reportedly giving Milo a $250k advance for a book. Here's hoping that the sales are terrible.
I'm guessing the sales will be good. Vice news tonight did a thing on him and he's really popular in Europe. He goes on tours everywhere. He's a douche

So Pataki vs. Clinton you're voting for Pataki right?
