Ugh those people are so annoying. Currently debating blocking one of my wife's friends that likes to make every single pop culture news item as a basis for some feminist rant.

He doesn't do it to me that often. Maybe once a month or two so I haven't been too annoyed. Usually he just looks crazy so I like leaving it up.

Man, what a nightmare this WV water situation is. If these people continue to vote Republican, and believe that deregulation is good for them, they ****** deserve this.

American Citizens Split On DOJ Memo Authorizing Government To Kill Them

Quote:
WASHINGTON—Following the release of a secret Department of Justice memo this week that outlines the administration’s legal justification for killing U.S. citizens, a new Pew Research Center poll has revealed that a majority of Americans are torn over whether they support the government’s right to kill them anywhere at any time without due process.

...

“I wouldn’t mind if federal officials blew up other citizens and claimed it was in the name of my safety. But it’s just that when it comes to me, I guess I’d rather not be slaughtered by my own elected officials on charges that never have to be validated by any accountable authority.

Sad thing is that's a lot closer to reality than we'd hope.

Im in Hawaii today on my way to NZ. The natural beauty is stunning, but I was surprised by how dumpy everything man made is. Apparently this is largely due to the Jones Act, which makes it impossible for international shipping to call in Hawaii on its way to the US.

That's not quite true. The Jones Act forbids foreign flagged and built vessels from transporting from one US port to another. It is perfectly fine (and super common) for them to stop at multiple US ports to unload goods from other countries. It only affects goods Hawaii imports from mainland USA.

That said, the Jones Act is still pretty terrible and needs to go away.

Weird. Just about every pundit I've heard with an opinion on the subject has said that Rockefeller's Senate seat is a lock to go to a Republican this year.

You probably have something very similar in the UK. Most maritime nations do.

First openly gay NFL player to be:

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/10/sp...raft.html?_r=0

He's come out before the draft. He was voted defensive player of the year in the SEC which I would have thought would indicate a better than third round projection (NYT could be off here tho).

I think it will be difficult for him. Teams might want to sidestep an unknown amount controversy and distraction instead of taking the best player. No chance this all just happens without a lot of offensive remarks and jokes from players. I suppose the NFL will turn that into a revenue stream through fines.

Given what happened to the straight Vikings kicker who was pro gay rights, I wouldn't bet on his career being easy even though there are a lot of fellow players also gay, just in the closet.

Right now, top of my head, I can't think of a dumber policy I have heard in the last year. It is a prison policy that will create more criminals and more crime, just compete lunacy.

Kluwe wasn't that great of a punter.

He didn't claim to be amazing when he spoke out about his treatment. But he was definitely mistreated by the staff and management of the team including an openly homophobic coach.

From how he described it the culture is at least 15 years behind the rest of society.
