Goofy, you're the one making dumb posts itt. It should be obvious I don't actually think baristas are parasites.

Maybe post better in the future, because your earlier post implied you did think that.

So I guess ikes thinks it's the one doing programming work?

Only if you didn't think about it for a half second because you're reflexively mad in every dealing you have with me

I'm going to work for a really big company for the first time. Holy **** these benefits. I'm going to save like $10k in health benefits, get 3 weeks! of paid time off and receive FREE MONEY 401k contributions, among other bennies like bonus and profit sharing. This is amazing.
04-08-2014 , 05:34 PM
**** you, Riverman. This is the death of 401ks as we know them.
04-08-2014 , 05:39 PM
Can't be a great company if it's not offering the mathematically superior DB pensions.
04-08-2014 , 05:57 PM
peak 401k is upon us

Is there an example of a private sector union that has thrived along with the company over an extended period (decades)?

You mean besides like the entire continent of Europe?

But no, you're right. That's why we've seen such an amazing surge in prosperity during the past 30-40 years of union decline in this country. Get that Right to Work legislation and it's boom city for everyone.

Germany seems to have figured this out (pretty sure their auto unions have a say in hiring and firing the CEO's) that's pretty ****ing cool. And what fly said. **** the union haters.

States with higher rates of union membership also have a lot more members of the middle class. Coincidence?

And **** right to work laws. Those mother ****ers are stupid.

Kaiser is the longest healthcare related union I can think of and the locals that rep them are doing just fine (growing). Other private hospital chains have been entering into organizing agreements which have been going on for more than a decade in some instances and those companies continue to improve their profits/revenues each year. There's a bunch of individual manufacturing companies that have been union for quite a long time (Boeing, Deere, Cat, etc) where the workers at those places are doing well even if their parent unions are declining.

TL;DR: yes.

Actual explanation: "janeway gotta get paid, son"
04-08-2014 , 08:51 PM
Also, I like the fact that the OK cupid guy's statement was "hey, look, I mean I wasn't backing him because of his position on gays, it was just a routine buy-a-congressman transaction."

What were you expecting? "I tripped, fell and my money landed in his lap"?

The broken system with electoral funding donations buying access isnt a secret.
04-08-2014 , 09:00 PM
It was exactly what I was expecting, the honesty was refreshing.

TL;DR: yes.
So yes if the industry is experiencing massive growth as a whole?
04-08-2014 , 09:37 PM
I'm not sure I'd characterize manufacturing in the US as 'experiencing massive growth as a whole'.
