I watched Gattaca last night for the first time in over a decade. It hasn't aged very well.

Gattaca sucks.....and I like a lot of sci fi (AI, Contact) that many people seem to hate.
04-05-2014 , 04:31 PM
Huh, I liked gattaca, haven't seen it in a while though

That makes me sad. I really enjoyed it when I watched it back then, and it's not like there were effects or anything that would look bad by now. Can you elaborate?

I think part of the appeal of Gattaca was that we were just starting to map the human genome – and there was a lot of mystery around what kind of crazy scenarios that might lead to. Now it's 17 years after the movie came out, and DNA sequencing is a fairly routine and innocuous process. Also the solution for every single plot problem in the movie seemed to be to whip out the DNA kit. And it annoyed me how no one ever took off their suit and tie – not at a speakeasy or even when they were going on a space ship where they were supposedly a navigator.

However the styling of the movie was still kind of interesting – especially the interiors. And Jude Law was awesome as usual.

Just finished it....really strong season overall. The only season 1 episode I thought was as good as the season 2 average was Catherine.

Those early Bond movies where the best. Go for a little vacation on some Caribbean island, sex up a fine babe, play some baccarat, drive a nice car, stop an evil madman, sex up a different fine babe... and pan to the sky.

My favorite Bond gambling scene was when he was playing backgammon for an obscene amout of money, used the villian's loaded dice to win. Then he had a huge brick of cash that he won in his suit breast pocket and it saved his life when someone threw a knife at him.

I've only seen Casino Royale and Quantum of Solice I think. If you're in your 20s and your dad wasn't a huge bond guy I imagine it's hard to be one.

Watched like 3 episodes of Veep season one, thought the show was awful and stopped watching. Might have to give season 2 a shot seeing lots of good reviews

GOAT veep one liner "oh it's fine...it was like a heavy period"

Although I also really like

Jonah, you're not even a man, you're like an early draft of a man where they just sketched out a giant, mangled skeleton but they didn't have time to add details like pigment or self-respect. You're Frankenstein's monster if his monster was made entirely of dead dicks.

Thought you were talking about GOT for a second there.
04-06-2014 , 01:29 PM
That was what Ned was planning on saying to Jorah right before he beheaded him. Would have been a sick burn
