Thats a big oversimplification. If Schiff hasnt made money running an investment firm, (I'm not conceding this point I havent looked into it) hes walking proof of that. Because Schiff has several books and dozens of T.V. appearances accurately predicting the future of the economy.

What iz the track record of current fiancial expertz in government?

Itz a chance to change it up in government.

how can people judge his performance when the following things are true, so far as i udnerstand:

*there are no releases of aggregate performance
*investments arent always picked directly by him in a single managed fund. the firm helps facilitate offshore purchases and portfolios are targeted to client needs.
*his whole philosophy is buying stocks for high dividend payments and to not worry about the intermediate stock price for tens of years so long as you're still collecting those high dividends. he's always stated that outright.

True, if people like him were in charge it wouldnt be his investment skill that mattered but our own.

Typical predatory lender imo.

So vote for him. I never said he is not a good choice, just that his experience working at a fund is a big part of why you should vote for him if you do. I'm sure he would tell you the same thing.

I wonder if he will be running on that. I am sure it will come up, but it will be interesting if he uses that experience at the forefront of his campaign. If he does I am sure he can gloss it up to make it look acceptable for the average person. Perhaps he could paint himself as the investor who tried to avoid the housing bubble and use it to be a man of the people type of thing.

General Election Matchups
Simmons 48 (+5 from May)
Dodd 39 (unch)
Don't Know 10 (-5)

Dodd 42 (+1)
Caligiuri 40 (+1)
Don't Know 15 (-2)

Dodd 42 (+7)
Foley 42 (-1)
Don't Know 14 (-2)

Dodd 43
Schiff 38
Don't Know 16
Also, Schiff's biggest problem, ldo:

Quote:
(If registered Republican) If the 2010 Republican primary for United States Senator were being held today and the candidates were Rob Simmons, Tom Foley, Peter Schiff, and Sam Caligiuri, for whom would you vote?

Simmons 42%
Foley 5%
Schiff -
Caligiuri 5%
SMONE ELSE(VOL) 1%
WLDN'T VOTE(VOL) 1%
DK/NA 45%
When you read the guts of the poll and fav/unfv, it's clear no one really has much of an idea who Schiff is.

I'm pretty sure if you polled Dodd vs. DVaut1 you'd get >35% of the vote. Dude is tremendously awful at his job.

I have to think he will rebound a little though. I find it very hard to believe CT will send a "Moderate" Republican to the Senate after making their whole House Delegation Democratic and Giving Obama < 60% of the vote.

Then again "Moderate" Jodi Rell has the Governorship, so who knows.

i wish i had money to donate to both Rand and Peter

about 6300 people have pledged to donate $100 on the moneybomb day...I can't imagine they all actually do it, but at the same time, I can't imagine why they'd lie about it either.
07-30-2009 , 11:55 AM
Because people lie or make promises they can't keep despite their best intentions. It's human nature. This shouldn't be a foreign concept to a libertarian/ACist.

If I had only $1, and had to choose between Peter Schiff or Rand Paul, which campaign is the better investment?

Wasn't the moneybomb day thing a Rand Campaign thing? I'm confused.
