Maybe, but there's a decent chance several of your pills will be tic-tacs.

Free tic tacs!

If Rushie's own health plan provides treatment for heart disease, I think we're all entitled to watch him eat a jelly donut on the internet.

You're damn right it is

Look at it, all sexy, it knows exactly what it's doing.

Besides doctors prescriptions for these oral contraceptives, don't we have greater medical needs for our insurance dollars besides providing pregnancy safe sex for women?

There are other similar situations in our healthcare system where the general public is supplementing lifestyle choices. I'm just using the oral contraceptives as ONE of those situations.

Im willing to listen to viewpoints here on this.

OK, so maybe covering contraception saves money on average for insurers. But even if so, apparently other factors outweigh this for religious organisations. Why shouldn't they be allowed to weight these factors? Does this basically stem down to a public accomodation debate like that of discrimination? If so, it has very little to do with health care per se.

Impressive amount of fail. It is of course reasonable to expect your insurance service that you are paying for to cover birth control. Practically all of them do. A non moron might think that she is wrong in saying that her insurance company should not have the right to refuse to pay for her BC but your framing of the issue is as dumb as Limbaughs.

Ummm, why? You are making a choice to have sex. It's not really insurance if you have an expectation for them to pay for it. People itf have zero idea what insurance is.

Pretty reasonable argument that she had. Still kind of surreal that they did not have any women speak on this topic.

Gotta add in the Rohypnol for her.

This is why it is so ridiculous that women were not allowed on that congressional panel. There are a ton of other reasons besides being a contraceptive to take the pill. It regulates the period, some women need this, it also alleviates pain from cramps and whatnot.

There are medical reasons to take meth, too. Free meth in all insurance plans!

The whole problem is the Government getting involved in this ****. Almost if not all states required insurance companies to cover BC for years.

Good one.

Yes.

I don't quite get why people hate this guy so much disliking his show, then talk about it so much. Seems quite self-defeating.

You are better than that.

Health insurance pays for birth control and expected things all the time. Check ups, blood pressure screening, eye exams, contacts, viagra etc.

Yeah, they usually cover adderall. They should also cover medicine that helps basic female health issues.

No, the left hates Limbaugh, so going after the dumb **** he says is great for raising money and getting swing votes. The 2006 Missouri Senate race may have been swayed by his mocking of Michael J Fox. Painting the Republican party as thinking of women as "sluts" and "prostitutes" has a ton of upside.
03-02-2012 , 07:56 PM
Seems pretty reasonable.

Maybe it is reasonable, but she should be able to make a case for why it is. Her reasons are:

a) that it can be medically necessary for non-contraceptive reasons (which could easily be resolved without providing it universally) and
b) it's expensive.

So her only valid reason is she and others like her will be financially better off. There may be good arguments for why contraception and not blueberries should be covered (beyond your argument ad populum "everyone else is doing it!") but if there are any in her testimony, they're well hidden.

The point is if there are non-contraceptive benefits to contraceptive drugs, it shouldn't be hard to prescribe them separately.
