The man who wanted to become dictator for life and destroyed the Republic in the process isn‘t really the comparison you‘re looking for, Rudy.

It most certainly is when half the spectators only see their team kicking the ball into the net. Who‘s to say whose goal it was anyway? You say it was an own goal. That‘s just what Soros wants you to believe. I read on Facebook/Breitbart/NYT OpEd that it was the greatest goal of all time.

If you want, you can do some comparisons and see if you find a few that were deleted.

I originally thought this Cohen story was just his way of trying to force Trump's hand on a pardon. I thought the tape leak was a shot across the bow, and when this broke I figured Trump ignored the warning shot and Cohen was trying to make it very clear that he meant business.

That said, I'm not sure it makes any sense the more I think about it and I'm starting to think this may be either from the Trump side or orchestrated by the Trump side through Cohen. There are some pretty decent theories a few others posted about this... They've got merit, and here's one more: what if Trump knew Cohen was reaching out to Mueller with this info, and wanted to make sure everyone in the room for it knew that Mueller was about to be trying to corroborate it? It's safer/easier to leak the story to make them aware than to tell them directly. This is something that I think they've done a few times with their strategic leaks.

Also just think about it from Cohen's perspective.

Releasing this info to force a pardon to prevent you from testifying about this info seems kind of like shooting the hostage. The very leak itself diminishes your negotiating position with Trump. So you'd want to leak as little as possible while still making it clear what it was referencing... Perhaps you'd leak that you had direct knowledge of key Trump campaign discussions about that meeting, without leaking that Trump himself was in the room for those discussions... Or that Trump knew about the Magnistky Act meeting before it happened, without making it clear that Trump didn't know it wasn't about adoptions.

Leaking the whole thing seems counterintuitive.

Also if Cohen was trying to reach out to Mueller, he wouldn't do it through ****ing CNN. Mueller has been very low key and avoids leaks. He hasn't given interviews, barely even public statements. So why use CNN to get his attention? I mean, you know, have your lawyers pick up the phone or go to his offices directly. Besides, anything you could give him would become LESS valuable to him the moment you leaked it. Now that everyone knows, it's that much harder for him to corroborate it as mentioned above.

Tracing the motives is tricky, but the one that initially seems most obvious (Cohen angling for a pardon) now seems the least likely to me. That said, Michael Cohen is not exactly a brilliant man, so he may just be badly misplaying this...

STEPHANOPOULOS: Are you concerned at all that Michael Cohen’s going to cooperate with prosecutors?

GIULIANI: No. I expect that he is going to cooperate with them. I don’t think they’ll be happy with it because he doesn’t have any incriminating evidence about the president or himself.

The man is an honest, honorable lawyer.

I've totally lost track now, so question:

Are there any odds at all that if they keeping tugging on these threads, he can be impeached? Or is it essentially not even worth considering?
