Why not just release the FISA application instead of some legally irrelevant ad hominem talking points.
Because the actual application probably cites nine other sources for why it's needed

This was all clear prior to the election, they aren't hiding any of it and they still don't get what's going on.

As any poker player should know by now, Being fair to everyone no matter what they do only means the cheats win because you don't hold them accountable and keep giving them airtime. They might still not get it even after they should learn the hard way.
If I had to simplify the answer to this, it's that media hold stock too.

Generic R is closing fast on Generic D in congressional polls because of people who are in the market and people feeling the tax cuts and being fed Pelosi's line about 'crumbs'. The GOP is trying to pay their people off.

Another reason the FBI didn't want the memo released could be that everyone Mueller (his team) interviews from here on out could know to a large extent what information Mueller knows to be fact from what date due to surveillance. They could tell the truth about all meetings with Page from that point forward and deny/omit everything else knowing that Mueller doesn't have proof from direct surveillance of other meetings.

Will be interresting now to see if trump will fire rosenstein now that he got cover. Replace him with a crony that puts mueller under severe restrictions.

Chiefs Planet seems to be a bit mixed. Some saying it's big and people should go to jail. Others saying it's bad but contains nothing new.

"Why was everyone at the FBI and DOJ clamoring about releasing this? There are barbecue sauce recipes that have more merit in being listed as top secret than anything in this. I haven't been this let down by a news event since Y2K."

So looks like Rosenstein is probably getting fired soon

Looking at the GOP response, seems that Rosenstein is on his way out. Guess from there they just throw in a crony to stop the Mueller investigation. At that point, I suppose Mueller does...?

I'm pretty surprised they didn't gin up any real HUGE IF TRUE stuff, but I guess they are just going to proceed as if it's both huge and true anyway.

It's amusing to see what the evolution of "cover" is. In place of actual substance, the GOP just says repeatedly for a week or two that this memo is just DEVASTATING, the FBI is so corrupt, Rosenstein isn't impartial, etc etc...

...and then it comes out and says none of those things, but they're going to just continue on as if it did, that's their new reality. I think even just 10 years ago this memo would have had to have some wild claims in it (regardless of whether they were true) to provide this kind of "cover", but we're now about a year away from the GOP just holding up a blank sheet of paper and saying "this memo is incontrovertible proof that Hillary Clinton must be thrown in jail" and Breitbart/Fox News nodding along like "yeah wow it really does".

As I have said repeatedly, I also remain 100 percent confident in Special Counsel Robert Mueller. The contents of this memo do not - in any way - discredit his investigation.

While this memo raises serious concerns with the FISA process, I have been and remain confident in the overwhelming majority of the men and women serving at the FBI and DOJ.

I wonder how many "republicans" just wont vote at all in november. Some of them have got to be exhausted and disheartened at this point.

Nunes probably would have been better off releasing a memo full of fake news and crazy conspiracy theories than one that is so weak it hurts his party more than the FBI/DOJ.

Even if sources are biased, it's irrelevant. You don't ignore a person calling the police on their neighbor for kidnapping children because said person hates his neighbor. You still have to investigate.
