They'll eventually seize on exactly this argument that their penchant for hiring imbeciles and amateurs actually demonstrates Trump's innocence as these weren't serious people and of course no one took their collusion with Russia seriously and therefore Trump is innocent.

It's just varying degrees of "Trump is a distractable incompetent who doesn't listen to anyone or understand anything and therefore he can never be guilty any wrongdoing due to things happening around him that he doesn't understand or care about." The argument will be variants of "Well, sure, Trump said this was one of his important foreign advisers, but everyone knows he's just a bull****ter and he just says random stuff and that Donald J Trump's closest foreign advisers are the hosts of Fox and Friends" etc. etc.

Proving treason is difficult. But proving tax evasion....that is our specialty. You are looking at 30years min. So, you have anything you want to tell us?

Not prosecutors but ive always bashed the FBI, CIA and the rest of our intelligence community. If they somehow manage to get us out of the madness i promise not to, well maybe a few days.

For anyone that didn't see it, Bernie was on Seth Meyers tonight. Short interview, but good as always. On another note, I'm going to need a vacation day or two to get through this thread in the next few weeks.

I guess it's so unsurprising that it's not even worth discussing how John Kelly continues to out himself as an extreme racist. He is a disgusting human being.

Quote:
“He was a man that gave up his country to fight for his state, which, 150 years ago, was more important than country. It was always loyalty to state first back in those days. Now it’s different today. But the lack of an ability to compromise led to the Civil War. And men and women of good faith on both sides made their stand where their conscience had to make their stand.”
WHAT THE **** is with this "both sides" crap these ****ers keep using? Stop ****ing equivocating your racist crap with everyone else. You are inferior.

Not even going to go there with the Robert E Lee and Civil War lack of compromise (lolololol) stuff. The General is either uneducated and a complete moron or a manipulative lying racists (or all of the above!).

This revising of history makes me so angry because it just continues to filter throughout society and eventually a non-insignificant number of people will believe these absolute lies.

If only we could find a way to find the common narrative thread between "actually Confederate soldiers are worthy of monuments because they made their stand and rebelled against the United States' and "it's really so treacherous and disrespectful for sonsofbitches black NFL players to kneel during the anthem."

We as a society need to highlight far more then we do that the confederate heroes and their worshipers are treasonous.

Also, one good reason to learn history from books rather than stumbling across Confederate statues in the public square is that you don't end up in the average right-winger predicament of selling yourself as deeply appreciative and respectful of history while seemingly knowing nothing about the creation of the Constitution, the Missouri Compromise, the Kansas Nebraska Act, and all of the other compromises taught in introductory level US history content that describe the periods 1789-1861 as a series of failed compromises.

well it's a good thing that ignorance of the law isn't a viable defense in a court proceeding, amirite?

Short of it ending with Trump doing significant time in prison (bonus if it's federal prison and he's refused a pardon) I hope they can make the case without needing to flip Manafort. As much as I want to see Kushner or Dotard Junior arrested, Manafort has almost certainly done **** that is on a whole other scale of evil.

Manafort avoiding prison for playing To Catch A (traitorous) Dumbass strikes me as flipping Avon to get Clay Davis.

actually we want them in state prison, federal prison is a cakewalk in comparison

That's what I mean. He's their useful idiot. They are attaching themselves with Trump b/c they are so unpopular. But once they don't need him, they will have no problem getting rid of him. Remember, none of these guys wanted anything to do w/ Trump until it became clear he was going to win the GOP nomination.

Also, man, nothing makes America's God Fearing, Strong and Committed Principled People ad hoc and emergency insane moral relativists like asking them about the Confederacy or Christopher Columbus:

Quote:
"Well, history's history," Kelly said. "And there are certain things in history that were not so good and other things that were very, very good. I think we make a mistake, though, and as a society and certainly as individuals, when we take what is today accepted as right and wrong and go back 100, 200, 300 years or more and say what those, you know, what Christopher Columbus did was wrong."
Yeah, if only we had some sort of moral cognition whether to describe capturing women and raping them as right or wrong:

Quote:
While I was in the boat, I captured a very beautiful woman, whom the Lord Admiral [Columbus] gave to me. When I had taken her to my cabin she was naked — as was their custom. I was filled with a desire to take my pleasure with her and attempted to satisfy my desire. She was unwilling, and so treated me with her nails that I wished I had never begun. I then took a piece of rope and whipped her soundly, and she let forth such incredible screams that you would not have believed your ears. Eventually we came to such terms, I assure you, that you would have thought she had been brought up in a school for whores.
But we don't, sorry to say liberals but the ability to judge Christopher Columbus was a lie taught to you in unionized schools, we must recapture America from the degenerates who had no principles, #MAGA

Most right-wingers today wouldn't even recognize this snark, nor remember "you're a moral relativist!" was like the pre-2008 ULTIMATE right-wing argument power up so that when the liberal you were arguing with defended abortion or criticized organized school prayer, the very final right-wing trump card was always calling you a degenerate moral relativist who would simply let anything go.

One of the uh, 'nice' things about contemporary America's deep moral rot is that you never even see this argument anymore, they're so transparently racist and authoritarian they're skipping past any philosophical justifications besides bedwetting about antifa coming to TNT their houses on Nov 4 and the urgent need to shoot them or run them over with heavy machines.

I'm still very mad online about this bull****. The ****ing 3/5ths compromise was in the god damn Constitution. THE ONLY REASON OUR COUNTRY EXISTS IS BECAUSE NORTHERNERS CAVED TO RACISTS AND TRIED TO COMPROMISE (sound ****ing familiar?).

This line of argument annoys me. The northerners wanted slaves not to count as people at all.
