Yea but Lemon has no credibility after questioning if that plane was sucked into a black hole or whatever the **** he was saying at the time.

Like if Anderson Cooper said what Lemon did, it would have more "bite" to it.

Yea, same here. The last time I listened to him was in the final debate with Clinton. How the **** people actually look up to this guy is beyond me.

His credibility extinguished years ago when he had a cold-reading psychic on Anderson.

all I got is 3 groups it seems to me (ignoring the overlap since there obviously is a massive overlap)

1) He's a fascist. Or at least says that stuff over and over again.

2) People who really believe in the father is correct in all situations and never does anything wrong so do what he says or else authoritarian mindset.

3) They are also massive narcissists.

All 3 of these groups are bigger than people realize and all of these people are voting for him again; it doesn't matter what he does. Everyone who disagrees is the enemy.

Confirmed ****load of people outside the convention center tonight. I was expecting mostly immigration activists, but it was a very diverse crowd with diverse signage. White, black, brown, native, young and old all represented. The cops did a fine job keeping heroes and deplorables separated imo. I left 5 minutes before the crowd was "dispersed" apparently. I saw nothing but peaceable assembly in the 3 hours before that.

The best sign I saw was "I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change, I'm changing the things I cannot accept."

That means that one of these things is true:

1. Nobody involved in writing his speech or planning the rally, and nobody who read the speech, thought to mention it.

2. They did and Trump refused.

If Trump keeps attacking GOP Senators, directly or indirectly, maybe there is a chance GOP Senators will help convict him on a House Impeachment. I can see McConnell telling the other GOP senators, "I don't want to convict a Republican President, but none of us want to put up with this crap for another 2-6 years, Pence is our guy."

It is probably going to take Mueller awhile to wrap things up. Also a House Impeachment is more likely if Dems retake House in mid-term election. It would be interesting if the Senate vote on convict took place half way through Trumps term PLUS 1 day. Therefore in the minds of the GOP Senators, they could ax crazy Trump, have Pence serve out remainder of Trump term and Pence is still eligible for his own 2 terms.

So is Trump following Erdogan's playbook? Erdogan seems always on rallies and making speeches where he attacks his enemies. Indoctrination. Seems he thinks he always has to remind his followers who the enemies are so that nobody gives a **** that he broke most of his campaign promises.

It's actually 3. They Don't Care

Observation: For decades, Trump has overcome astounding obstacles to get where he is.

Trump Narrative Conclusion: Trump is really good at stuff.

Real Conclusion: Trump is a fraud with a guardian angel.

But who? He fights everyone from every group. They come and go. Besides family, only one theme has been constant all these years. One person doesn't get challenged by Trump. One country is always defended.

Everything else flip flops.

Important, decades-old acquaintances are gone since early in the campaign, each dismissed immediately after a significant Russian scandal became public. Start with these guys:

Stone and Manafort Go Into Business

Roger Stone founds a lobbying practice with Paul Manafort; Trump becomes one of Stone’s first clients. In the 1980s, Trump hires Manafort as his lawyer on gambling and real estate issues. By 1988, Stone is one of Trump’s closest advisers.

Although the number of people who didn't want Nixon impeached was probably similar to the number who oppose Trump's impeachment, they were not nearly as fervent in that stance. So they would not have tried to get revenge by voting out the Republicans who would have helped oust Nixon. But now it is different. I would think that the only way that Republicans would impeach would be if Trump lost his diehard fans or if somehow Democrats promised not to run against those who voted to convict.

Trump knows something very bad is coming from the Muller investigation

Our house,

Have you seen Icarus on netflix? Watched it last night, pretty crazy. If those are the lengths putin will go to to win some extra golds at the lol winter olympics imagine what he's doing to win and keep the us presidency.

It's a pretty great doc on it's own. Guy thinks he's making a lighthearted morgan spurloc supersize me thing about doping in cycling and somehow gets wrapped up in fbi investigations into russia. Def worth a watch imo.

Well oiled machine, imo.
People reported to have been "pressured" (influenced, asked, etc. - pick a word, they keep playing around with them in hearings) by Trump to interfere with the Russia investigations:

Mitch McConnell (Senate Majority Leader)
James Comey (Former FBI Director)
Andrew McCabe (Acting FBI Director)
Mike Pompeo (CIA Director)
Mike Rogers (NSA Director)
Dan Coats (Director of National Intelligence)
Jeff Sessions (Attorney General)
Rod Rosenstein (Deputy Attorney General)
Sally Yates (Former Acting Attorney General)
Did I miss any?

Bonus:

Alan Dershowitz: There is no case for obstruction of justice unless something illegal like bribes are involved.

I'll check it out now, thanks.

Any documentary on Putin is eye popping. Every American should get familiar with his playbook, because the US government is literally a cookie cutter of it right now. Trump has been around the Russian stuff for a long time. He's an idiot, but learned through insane repitition.

What Putin did to Ukraine is abominable. Paul Manafort and Michael Caputo (the guy from behind Trump last night at the Phoenix rally) were 2 key players in that takeover. Ukraine is also a testing ground for what he's doing to all the other Democracies. Military action is the final step, once a country has been weakened enough for all the other "hybrid (cyber/media/political) warfare" that the common folk like us don't care about.

Aside from Ukraine, the Russian apartment bombings of 1999 are a MIND BLOWING story of how Putin became President.

Finally, Putin's experience with this stuff is extensive. It's all brand new to our country. There's little doubt he's making a move on the world. America is such a big part of it, and you're 1000% right that he will go to any lengths to keep the US. What scares me the most is he has counters to fight against anything we can think of...Congress, Mueller, whatever, and will only use them if push comes to shove.

Our government isn't stopping him, and he won't stop voluntarily. There's only one way for us to fight it (the media has been amazing here, which is why Trump slams them all day and night): Exposing it all through public awareness.

Nearly every single thing Trump says is bull**** to make big stories in the media that aren't about Russia. Our Democracy crumbles in the background.

I'm going on Netflix to check out Tom's suggestion. If there's any interest in a list of Trump campaign and administration members with Russian ties, I'll put a post together.

Question from a dummy:

Is there any mechanism that prevents every registered Democrat/no affiliation from switching to Republican in order to help primary Trump?

Haven't seen this suggested anywhere.
08-23-2017 , 07:35 AM
You can't even get Democrats to vote in their own damn primaries.

It's not a new idea. Rush Limbaugh was encouraging his listeners to vote in the Democratic primary in 2008 in the hopes of prolonging the Obama/Hillary battle.
08-23-2017 , 08:04 AM
I think its becoming more likely that Trump won't actually be in the race in 2020. Maybe that's why he needs to get his campaign rallies out of the way now.

There's an great four part BBC documentary called "Putin and the West" on youtube, by the same director as the equally excellent "Death of Yugoslavia" and "Iran and the West".
