The reporting on that 401k thing, while very scary if it comes to pass, is shaky and I wouldn't treat it seriously without more specific sourcing attached.

I considered that. But it doesn't hurt to get pre-riled up just in case they have any big ideas.

Like I don't even know if you guys are being serious.

Anyway, I read the article after I was done being triggered. It appears "the discussion" is just turning 401ks into Roth 401ks. So you lose the deduction but the withdrawals are tax free. So that is just "meh". Current 401ks are tax free in but taxed at ordinary income when withdrawn.

**** Roth. You really trust the govt to honor their pledge and not tax gains in Roths?

30 years from now who knows what kind of existential crisis we might be facing. In these tough times everyone needs to do their part. You lucky duckies who saw the DOW rise to 50k in your tax-free Roths, and now want to just gorge on all that tax free income, need to get some skin in the game.
