It's a lot easier to hide Monica when you where those big long robes.

I think Obama will quietly keep Bill Clinton as uninvolved as possible. Hillary will still be an influencial Senator since she can raise money for others.

Lieberman and Paul are not possibilities.

But, Kerry could get a cabinet position. He's been in the Obama camp since the primaries.

As a former Massachusetts resident, it's interesting to see that MA's two Senators may soon be different. Kerry has been in office since January, 1985. Kennedy has held office since November, 1962.

I agree more with him ideologically than many of the more conservative justices so I would agree with many of his decisions.

He's brilliant.

He's charismatic.

The inevitable affair with the office aide (or at least jokes about the inevitable affair with the office aide) would be hysterically funny.

Do I have to keep going?

For those doubting Kerry:
Quote:
Obama campaign advisers declined to comment on the record for this story. Nor would many Democratic foreign-policy experts who might join an Obama administration. But off the record, Obama aides made clear that Kerry’s name is on a very short list of contenders to become the country’s top diplomat. Another person talked up by the great mentioner is Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.), a Vietnam War veteran whose foreign-policy views align surprisingly well with Obama’s.

Any chance of McCain getting a nomination?

I'd say practically zero. McCain's supposed strengths are in foreign policy and national security. I don't think he'd be particularly suited to running either State or Defense. Plus, Obama would want to have someone with similar worldviews running two of the most important departments. McCain and Obama are just too far apart of foreign policy questions for that to happen.

Looks like Rahm Emanuel will be Obamas Chief Of Staff :

Any thoughts on this choice?

His brother Ari was the inspiration for Ari Gold on Entourage. Any chance we can get Ari in the cabinet somehow?

Al Gore for Secretary of new dept of carbon counting?

Ed Rendell for National Morale Officer?

Rahm is gonna be CoS:

A senior Obama advisor confirms to NBC News that Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel has accepted the job of Chief of Staff for the Obama White House.

Rahm was purported to be Aaron Sorkin's inspiration for the Josh Lymon character in the West Wing. I think Obama should have just brought on the actual cast of the West Wing instead.

And his brother is apparently the inspiration for Ari Gold on Entourage.

I hope Obama doesn't lose focus by staring at his finger nub.

Dule wouldn't fit the narrative in this WH imo.

So I read Emanuel's wiki page, but obviously didn't get a LOT from it.

Anybody got impressions on the guy? Good? Bad? Indifferent?

I'm already hearing reports that he's a shady slimeball and wanted to get the scoop.

My only point of criticism so far is this: He instructed people not to appear on the Colbert Report.

He could date one of Obama's daughters.

He will get things done. being a shady slimeball is a compliment in washington. do you want a sweet innocent pushover running things? he will be obama's lighting rod. excellent choice.

The buzz is that Robert Kennedy Jr. may be named to the EPA chief post. Would be a reasonably good fit IMO.

Given that BO has no executive experience whatsoever I think he'd be a fool to nominate more of the same. I hope he's smart enough to load up on ans surround himself with experienced competent executives.

Colin Powell has been CoS before. He's managed a bureaucratic agency. Command chains were his military specialty. BO would be smart to make him his number 2, imo.

I think Powell said he has no interest in pursuing a cabinet position. Of course that doesn't necessarily mean he wouldn't accept one if asked.

I think the chances of Powell serving in a cabinet position are pretty low, more likely Obama would make him a presidential envoy to a crisis.

I think its pretty likley that he gives a republican a high/cabinet position. My guess is better than 3:1.
