Obama Cabinet Speculation Obama Cabinet Speculation

Speculation on the TV says that Gates staying on as Sec Defense is a possibility. I am hoping for Jim Webb but doubt its likely. Any predictions on the other important posts like Treasury and Sec of State?

Sec. of Housing and Urban Development: Rezko
Sec. of the Interior: Wright
Sec. of Defense: Ayers
Attorney General: Edwards

When Webb was SECNAV he got his feelings hurt and took his ball and went home.

I would really, really like to see a clean sweep of Bush appointees.

If he really wants a Republican at Defense, Chuck Hagel would make a much better choice. He's a budget hawk who wouldn't write blanks checks for every pet project in the Pentagon, is a vet, and is well respected by both sides.

Webb is better in the Senate. He's very independent and hates taking orders. Also, the Dems might have trouble holding the seat if he resigned.

Gates is a great SecDef but has stated he's done in Jan. I suspect being a university president is a much more enjoyable experience than continuing on as the Bush guy in Obama's cabinet while trying to put an end to two ongoing conflicts and rebuild the mess that is the military after 8 years of perpetual war.

I would like to see Sen. Whitehouse as Atty General, he seemed very impressive in the FISA hearings.

More speculation. I did choke on my Coke when I read Schwarzenegger for Energy Secretary, though.

Wookie is awesome!
You exercise your powers well!

Ayers should be homeland security.

In the event Obama rapes a little boy on stage at a rally, here's Politico's corresponding speculation for a McCain cabinet:

Wookie's cabinet is a complete fabrication, where's Farrakhan? Where's Sharpton?

just read the Politico article, I was surprised by the Tom Daschle= chief of staff. I think Daschle would suck in this role, and that Rahm would be much better. But it's very interesting because obviously Illinois politics are going to be very shaken up, and where everyone lands is I'm sure the subject of much behind-the-scenes converstaions. Jesse Jackson Jr. is being considered as Senator to replace Obama, as is Jan Schakowsky, and Lisa Madigan. As an Illinoisan, this matters to me, because Lisa Madigan is a kick-ass AG and I don't want her to become Senator. Or, she could run for Gov., and definitely win no matter what happens to Blago.

Also, I like the pick of Howard Dean to HEW, but who would become DNC chair? I like Rahm for this also.

I can handle Hagel for Defense Sect'y. Jim Webb needs to stay in the Senate.
Lieberman can retire as soon as possible, thanks.

Just lots of interesting possibilities................

As an Oregonian, I really hope Kitzhaber has a role in this administration, specifically dealing with Healthcare.

I'd love to see Bill Richardson get in on this somehow. Politico has him and Kerry as possibilities for Sec State, if somehow Kerry gets that nod I...well I'm not quite sure what I would do.

Kerry will never get Sec of State. Is there a post for Wesley Clark somewhere? Sec of Defense?
11-01-2008 , 06:55 AM
No chance of either of the Clintons being involved?

Bill Clinton on the Supreme Court would be cool. Is he still disbarred?

Yeah, pretty surprised that Clark wasn't named as a Sec. of Defense possibility in the Politico article.

Hillary wants to stay in the Senate. Bill wouldn't accept a demotion, so anything other than the Supreme Court wouldn't suit him, and that's pretty lol.

I think so. You don't have to be a member of the bar to be on the Supreme Court tho.
