What are the safeguards, noting those you suggested would not have stopped mass death of Las veganites and those you opposes (ammunition limits) most certainly would have limited it.

this "us v. them" mentality...

why do I have to pick a "side"? why do there have to be "sides"?

why can't we just have a conversation, figure out common ground, and build from there?

What side did I say I "picked"? Can't I want people to have access to guns but demand that their access be reasonably restricted?

Cus that would involve both sides compromising what they know is right.

Yes you can. That's what I want as well.

dude, has this guy documented regular safety training and continuing mental health certification? not that I've seen. so no, you can't argue in good faith that my proposed regime would have failed to prevent it.

Just watching the press briefing - anyone have that meme handy where there's a crowd, or maybe its an angry duck (???), saying a word, and then repeating the word louder and louder and louder and more angrily.

Wow, what a terrible description I just gave - I can't remember the meme exactly, clearly....

But it'd go something like this.

"Bump stock" "Bump stock!" "BUMP STOCK BUMP STOCK BUMP STOCK!!"

Great meme bro. How dare people impugn the good name of an item designed to deliver a lot more bullets quickly right after someone used it to deliver a lot of bullets quickly into a crowd of people.

They're trying to distract from the fact that all guns should be banned

There's really no such thing as mental health certification and the people who commit these crimes do not seek mental health treatment and are therefore not legally known to be mentally ill.

Again:--

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/...rford_massacre

The police officer who signed off on that individual's gun permit (and whose father would, coincidentally, be killed in the gunman's rampage) had no legal reason to refuse it, even though he knew that no one had a legitimate reason to own a Kalashnikov (strictly a Chinese 'Type 56' copy) or a US Army M1 carbine, and even though the gunman, unknown to the medical authorities, was madder than any box of frogs you could come up with.

The Vegas gunman was so mad that his neighbours scarcely ever saw him and said it was 'like living next door to nothing' and he put up a high fence round his cul-de-sac property, to the annoyance of said neighbours, and gave as a reason, 'I don't want to look at other people and I don't want people looking at me,' which is as homicidally schizoid as you can get, but he wasn't seeking any kind of treatment so he could just build up an arsenal of 30-odd self-loading rifles, no problem.

I was actually hoping you'd be around to post the meme...but, I guess that's too much to ask.

It's not about impugning the name, by the way - I don't own any bump stocks, have never wanted to own one (they're pretty stupid...people who actually know about guns don't buy them, mostly 18 year old youtubers and apparently old dumb fuds).

But since you mentioned, how many more bullets did it deliver than a typical semi auto rifle?!

Edit to add: The idea that if this guy didn't have a bump stock, this would have been less tragic, is incredibly stupid. Guy sitting up in an elevated position, firing into 22,000 people - bump stock or no bump stock, this was going to be an incredible tragedy.
10-05-2017 , 03:11 PM
Well, if a couple dozen extra dead and a couple dozen extra wounded is the price of the freedom to own bump stocks, I guess that's the price they will have to pay.

Wookie, don't be embarrassed to say "I don't know, I argue from a position of ignorance", instead of making little sarcastic responses to avoid it. It's really not that big of a deal to admit.
10-05-2017 , 03:14 PM
Huh, sarcastic responses instead of enunciating a point is unbecoming, you say?
10-05-2017 , 03:14 PM
"I can't even figure out how to use Google to find an image, but here's my gun control hot take"

...Do you know what sarcasm is though? Which part of my response did you think was sarcasm?

But so yeah, was there a + damage value you think the bump stock adds? Or do you think it's more of a + to attack speed. I guess the attack speed makes sense.

Ok that actually was sarcasm.

But, since you know for sure how many extra were killed due to bumpfire, how many of the ~500 injuries were due to gunshots?

Without those gadgets specifically designed and sold to get around the long-standing law restricting ownership of automatic weapons, he would have killed far fewer people, on account that whole fairly obvious rate-of-fire thing and the fact that he didn't have to aim.
10-05-2017 , 03:21 PM
You popped into this thread to post a meme bro.

I'd say with a standard semi auto .308 rifle (which does not get around any laws at all), he'd have killed far more people. Having thought about what that caliber does and a conservative estimate of 2-3 shots a second, you honestly think I'm wrong?

edit to add: As I've been trying to convey to wookie, if you don't know what a .308 is, or what a semi auto rifle is, that's totally OK and not something you should be afraid to say, and I'll gladly go into further explanation. If you do know, also cool, I don't know you so IDK what your familiarity is.

Fixed that for you...Really "bro", there's nothing wrong with saying you don't know something. It's really, really OK.

Dude you are a bigger fraud than dbj, no one cares about how you'd carry out your fantasy mass shooting
10-05-2017 , 03:37 PM
Is your point that you know more about how to carry out a mass shooting than everyone else? Because, ok, great.
10-05-2017 , 03:38 PM
GOP Florida Congressman (Curbelo-FL) introduce bill to ban bump stocks.

Uhhh, not sure how I'm a fraud....Can you elaborate? I'm not claiming to be a military expert here, any hunter will tell you the same thing I said...And before we go down that road, no, I'm not a hunter.

And no wookie, my point is that bump stocks are irrelevant here....Surely that was clear from my posts where I said that was my point, right? If you can't answer that question, again, don't be afraid to admit it and I can work on doing extra explaining for you.

Now editing to add: Bump stocks are so irrelevant that even the GOP is willing to introduce legislation to ban them.

We sadly have on video a pile of bodies and the shooter firing off hundreds of rounds a minute but maybe we should wait to see what any forum operators have to say
