see what happens when we don't have bullet-proof dry erase boards for all the students and faculty? uh, and armed guards at every door?

There is a reason the founding fathers and the framers when creating the US constitution and the framework of the country did so with the full expectation that these laws will change over time. They may have been murderous corrupt slave owning scumbags by and large but what they got right was the realisation that a country formed in the 18th century could never appreciate the struggles of a country existing in the 21st century.

And sure, right now America has not got the balls, guts or the will to fundamentally change the second amendment. That sucks, but it is what it is. Sooner or later America will wake up like the rest of the world has, it is a young country, it will mature, and in time it will join the rest of the civilised world.

It will also happen much more rapidly than people expect, just go look at the demographics. 10-20 years and the polls will shift dramatically on all sorts of issues, gun control included.
Cool story Phil. Please tell me how you would characterize the British empire versus the United States when it comes to murder and slave owning?

The British attempted to capture a specific cache of weapons from a specific band of known rebels in a specific place in 1775. They weren't going house to house in Georgia trying to capture everyone's guns. The same thing happens today. If you say you're going to overthrow the US government and start rallying people with you, you don't get to have guns.

First step in the revolution is to raid all the armories in the South, where the soldiers are helping us, to get the real weapons. Duh.

And, lol, the "ban from import" on guns was the total closure of Boston Harbor specifically. They banned the import of textiles and tea at that port, too, but obviously it was the guns, (never mind that most guns used in the revolution were manufactured domestically), that made the colonists revolt . And guns could still be imported at any other port in the colonies. Like, does anyone actually bother to even read the Wikipedia page on the American Revolution when they see a facebook posting like that? It's 100% bull****.

Intellectual dishonesty by gun advocates? Well color me shocked.

God no. Seriously? That's too much reading.

This thread is worthless. The gun nuts will never "get it".

Oh look another massacre where the mentally ill steals the families unlocked guns. Are gun nuts locking up their guns now? probably not.

Posting idiotic and laughably incorrect facebook memes baits everyone, and it makes you look terrible. Don't do it. The "American Revolution was because of gun control" is nothing but right wing claptrap slobbered up by gun nuts everywhere who want to pretend that owning a glock makes them as cool as Tupac and George Washington combined.

And we know that's not the case.

Worthless? Did you expect people who hate guns would start liking them, or people who like guns would start disliking them, after reading this thread? Gun nuts can just as easily say that grabbers will never "get it."
01-22-2013 , 11:02 PM
Actually, reading further on Wikipedia, the First Continental Congress got all the colonies to sign a pact boycotting all British imports. So I guess imports of British guns were indeed stopped to Georgia and Virginia as well, but that's because the colonists refused to buy them, not because the British tried to take their guns away, lol.

Well at least we know that the mod of this forum considers those who value the right to bear arms as "gun nuts". So obviously he will be fair and impartial itt. That picture came from a guy who defended the US with a gun and his life. I knew you would like it.

Whereas in this forum we have one demographic, there are other views than these presented here. Calling people gun nuts, and generally insulting the intelligence of those who value the right to bear arms is ok and fun for Wookie. But don't post a picture about the American revolution he might not agree with. He might call me a gun but again....

And I don't own a gun
01-22-2013 , 11:05 PM
Being a soldier doesn't give you pass for posting ******ed ecards on Facebook.

Also, it's perfectly okay to question the intelligence of anyone that posts, or otherwise spreads, ******ed ecards.
01-22-2013 , 11:05 PM
LOL dude. It's not about "agreeing" with the picture. It's having a basic understanding of historical fact. That picture has none. And I don't give a **** if a soldier posted it. Fighting in one war doesn't make him an authority on the American Revolution. His facts are bad, and he should feel bad.

Double-LOL at the butthurt coming out about the term "gun nut." Like, have you paid any attention to what anyone who thinks any increase in the amount of gun regulation has been called ITT?
01-22-2013 , 11:10 PM
It's not about fact wookie, it's about sentiment. I don't know anything about you, but would say its fair that the general sentiment among America's armed forces towards gun control differs from yours?

The picture you posted is making statements of fact. Those facts are wrong. You're inferring an argument of opinion from those facts. But why should I give a **** about an argument based on blatantly incorrect facts? The sentiments of members of the armed forces don't matter to me. I'm not arguing against people who kill other people for a living or how that experience of killing people for a living informs their opinion on gun control. I'm arguing against a picture displaying incorrect facts.
01-22-2013 , 11:16 PM
Jesus Wookie. How can you hate the military so much? Just because some dude posted a picture with completely made up facts you're going to question that? FFS.

Ok now Im puzzled. One of the big arguments brought out by the pro-gun folks is that we need them to protect ourselves from the "tyrannical government". Now your saying that on average the vast majority of those enforcing the will of the "tyrannical government" have similar beliefs to those who are most concerned about the scary things the "tyrannical government" will to do them.

Never said any of those words dude. And I'm not the one posting lies.
01-22-2013 , 11:31 PM
Step 1: Post Picture
Step 2: Get told all the 'facts' are wrong
Step 3: Claim it's not about the 'facts'
Step 4: ???????
Step 5: Win argument
