Got this out of the lol forum. It says it's a cop but I'm thinking it's probably security or something because I've never seen a cop put up with the abuse this cop takes without someone at least going to jail.

Two Guatemalan men died and a third was injured Oct. 25 when Avila opened fire on a red pickup, like the one used in Thursday's vigil for the deceased.
The agent believed he was firing at a truck carrying a drug load and attempted to disable it, DPS reported.
Quote:
“According to news reports, these men were merely passengers in a truck pursued by law enforcement and not threatening officers nor engaged in any known criminal activity,” ACLU Executive Director Terri Burke wrote in the letter hand-delivered to DPS Director Steve McCraw. “Nevertheless, deadly force was employed. If the facts as reported are true, this use of deadly force was illegal and unconstitutional.”

Area civil rights groups gathered at a rural intersection near the shooting to decry these fatalities as well as some 18 others that have occurred in the area during border enforcement operations since 2010.

“We are alarmed by the overall culture of violence that is permeating this area by law enforcement agencies,” said Burke, who called for an agency other than the Rangers to investigate the shooting. “There is an attitude that seems to signal no regard for human life. They shoot first and ask questions later.”

Going to be closer to 3000 with the vig

Hopefully this ends up with a cop ending up as a mall security guard after having his reputation destroyed in open court.

can someone explain the "with the vig" meme? I gather it has some sort of LOLIKES connection but I missed it.

Just emailed to me:

Fulton County Jail accidentally releases murder suspect

Quote:
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit is combing Atlanta looking for a murder suspect who was mistakenly released from the county jail last month.

A spokeswoman for the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office said Quinton Jones was released Oct. 20 after the jail received court papers indicating that Jones’ case status was nolle prosequi (unwilling to prosecute) and dead docketed.

Jones was originally booked into the jail Sept. 29, 2011 in connection with the June 2011 shooting death of La Maurice Westbrook. He was indicted on charges of murder, felony murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, among other allegations.

But according to Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard, the case was re-indicted on July 13, 2012 to include additional charges.

In a statement released to Channel 2 Action News, Howard said that the “new case was properly filed with the clerk’s office and contained a ‘no bond’ provision.”

I wonder if someone could have filed false documents with the jail to get him released? Wouldn't shock me if the whole prison system was easy to game but criminals are just too dumb to figure it out.

How would it ruin his reputation? Can every ticket that gets dismissed be used as evidence by defense attorneys?

Kid is lucky he didn't get slapped with sex offender status.

I didn't mean simply dismissed, I am hoping for an old school reaming from the bench like you used to see occasionally when I first started.

Really explain to this guy the level of asshat you feel him to be.

This is certainly different than a "My radar said he was going 79, his GPS says 72" type deal.

I watched a judge do this to a cop in traffic court. I wasn't paying the slightest bit of attention until I heard the judge say, "I swear to God, if I ever see a ticket this stupid in my courtroom again I will hold your ass in contempt. GET OUT!"

People posted a set of sportsbook numbers, most in the 70-75% range. Some started posted numbers in the 80s. I asked what Romney was at. The higher sportsbooks actually just had more vig.

I'm not sure I've been criticized in a more stupid fashion by so many in this forum.

I know we try to shy away from appeals to authority but its a real David vs Goliath when we have a police captain with lots of experience in private and public sector work vs an unemployed drug user who lives with his parents. I like lirva away from politics threads but he is insufferable in them in that he insists upon his own interpretation of any event or scenario, and double j is doing a Yeomans work keeping up with this thread, I don't always agree with double j but I have a lot of respect for him

lol unemployed drug user. Look at your ****ing avatar and location bro.

I'm an employed drug user - pretty big difference IMO. If I was unemployed the first thing I would do is quit - FWIW I make 50k a year which is dog turds to a lot of posters here but I'm single without much debt so I get by pretty comfortably. And my employer never drug tests *giant bong hit of green bud and hash oil*

(And my roommate just gave me an ounce)

I think it annoys me at how uncivil you can be regardless of your position. I guess responding in kind isn't a great example but whatever

I'm sure it's possible, and I'm sure it's happened, but it's not a routine thing because the jail intake supervisor and the clerk of court probably have 15 phone calls a day and exchange nearly the same number of emails, and in my experience the practical way this actually goes down is the clerk calling the jail intake officer and saying "I'm about to fax over paperwork on x, look for it" etc.

The way this apparently went down was the clerk sent over both a nolle prosequi order and a new indictment, which is a pretty routine thing. It's not uncommon for prosecutors to nolle prosequi a case and add additional charges. This process should be a routine occurance for someone who's job it is to essentially work as a liaison between the jail and the courts.

Local news... Cop tried to shoot a dog, accidentally shot another cop instead.

Look, THEN shoot.

Oh, they were executing a drug warrant at 1AM. Tromping around in the dark, what could possibly go wrong?

At least they got the right house.

You criticizing me for using drugs while using drugs yourself is massively hypocritical.

As far as me being civil, I'm civil to people who are civil to me. I'm an ******* to people who are *******s to me. Usually when you see me cussing and ****, it's because I'm pissed off at the issue, not the person I'm talking to.

Hey I'm fine with anything anyone chooses to do as long as it doesn't harm someone else. But I don't piss and complain how I can't get a job bc so many employers drug test then make absolutely no effort to get clean and continue to whine about it (while continuing to lament societys lack of personal responsibility)I think it irks me because I'm a responsible user I pay taxes violate no other laws - IMO attitudes such as yours are counter productive to the dialog towards reforming the broken drug law systems. But I think that's enough I didn't mean to derail the thread with the "why lirva tilts me sometimes"

Honestly I like you and your posts most of the time so I will no longer attack you with any of my posts, but I don't regret any of what I've said.

People give me weed all the time - it's easy when you know people who grow. This ounce was more of a thanks for helping trim and process my crop ;-) if you live anywhere on the west coast you can trip over it so it seems as though there is no point in prohibition and soon the desire for money and commerce will overwhelm the puritans and it will be legal like booze
