TRUMP has delivered.
Bro, think about what you are saying. We have a dictator in office firing people that investigate him and you are like "LOL Libtards."

You cannot possibly be this obtuse.

It's true the last paragraph does sound sympathetic to the poor treatment of HRC by the FBI.

But that's way, way too favorable and assumes too much. This seems like a giant ****ing troll written by Trump himself: oh, everyone agrees you made mistakes, just huge mistakes, what a mess, a disaster. Everyone agrees you did bad. What bad thing, exactly? Well, actually, it was your decision NOT to prosecute.

There's nothing in here really suggesting Comey was too hard on HRC. It's the opposite.

Start taking bets on HRC emailzzzzz Benghazi gates re-entering the 24h cable news cycle daily. Confident this is happening.
This. The last paragraph is just a throw-in to make it seem balanced, but the gist is Comey overstepped his bounds by making a recommendation not to prosecute. Now, that recommendation will be ignored, and the new FBI director will instead just present all the evidence to the DOJ to make a decision (and pretty safe to say which way Sessions is going to decide).

Even the most jaded are aghast on twitter. Comey was supposed to testify before Congress on Thursday. I want to lol, but my face won't go along.

Wait, you mean Trump and Sessions are going to try to throw Clinton in jail over emails?

I don't believe being fired will prevent him from testifying. It didn't stop Sally Yates from testifying.

Tossing her in the clink isn't super smart either since people would be outraged and it's a little too final. THEN what's their next act? Obama?

Trump is a showman and a provocateur and he knows the way to keep the right-wing seals clapping for more fish is to simply drip-drip-drip non-news portrayed as BIG NEWS and non-events portrayed as BIG DEVELOPMENTS into the news cycle.

It's a constant stream of distractions that interfere with any kind of rational response to the world. I've been thinking about this because Daniel Boorstin wrote a wonderful book called The Image that Amusing Ourselves to Death draws on along with Marshall McLuhan. And I've been thinking about this regarding Trump because Boorstin coined the term “pseudo-events."

He coined this term to describe how Joseph McCarthy was incredibly skillful at manipulating the press. For example, how he would call a press conference in the morning to announce that he would hold a press conference in the afternoon with new revelations about communists and government. And then whether he actually did call the press conference in the afternoon or not didn't matter. The aim was to dominate the newspapers, which, at that time, came out in multiple editions a day.

You guys act like Trump shut down the FBI.

It's not like Director Comey was doing the actual investigation. Or that the investigation of Russia+Trump is now over.

Comey ****ed up a couple times. Grandstanded. Lost the confidence of both the Left and the Right.

It's simply a vote of no confidence. The decision was made that he had to go.

This guy was a star investigator, I bet.

Chains of command?

How do they work?

Have you ever had a major head injury?

Thanks for the assist on getting me elected, but you're fired. Can't make this **** up anymore.

What percentage of news outlets paint Comey as a hero of the people tonight and tomorrow, undeserving of ouster by the tyrant?

Bonus points: Of those, what percentage were calling for his immediate removal back in November 2016 due to being literally Hitler?

This is known as the TWO WEEKS UNTIL THE END OF THE INSTITUTIONAL LEFT theorem.

And Trump absolutely masters it. His ISIS plan, addressing Melania's visa fraud, his conflicts of interests, hell just the generally 100 day plan is all **** he's constantly making big announcements about but never doing anything.

The decision isn't much of a problem. The timing IS.

The pattern with Trump is that he's either firing or blowing up any and all investigations into him whenever people get too close. Grand jury, taxes, Mike Flynn, whatever.

Others in this thread are right in that you are witnessing the US TURN INTO RUSSIA before your very eyes and the most you can say is LOL LIBERALS.
05-09-2017 , 07:05 PM
Coney might be the only person less popular than trump and Trump is trying to leverage that into shutting down the Russia investigation before it digs too deep

Your hero worship of an oily buffoon never ceases to amaze. I can sense the tears welling up in your eyes over heroic patriot Donald J Trump terminating Comey for the good of mom, America, and apple pie. He may even have dusted off his Apprentice catchphrase.

The right and the left have complained about Comey since July. Donald Trump could have replaced him immediately. Bitterness about Comey is probably at a 10 month low right now. So why this moment? Why when he fired Sally Yates in a matter of minutes did he wait all these months to fire Comey over his handling of the Clinton case? Oh right, it has nothing whatsoever to do with that.

I hope he does testify. Trump couldn't intimidate Yates. He couldn't get Congress to cancel the hearing. He damn well got his way today, but he may well regret it.

You mistake the single-minded know-nothing tribalism of the average Democrat for that of the average Republican voter.

A few super-low-info liberals on my FB feed were celebrating at first. But now the mood has turned overwhelmingly somber.
