Most republicans would be against a straight up poll tax. Mostly because such tax hits their base in a very visible way.

More likely some sort of voter ID law. You need to think along these lines: "What do poor white people have but poor brown/black people dont?" Money fails that test.

You guys aren't thinking big enough. What they are gonna do is rewrite the 14th amendment to explicitly remove the equal protection clause. No point in throwing a constitutional convention to mess around with small potatoes like a poll tax. By significantly altering the 14th amendment, they can make all kinds of laws that explicitly apply to people based on their race, religion, nationality, and so on.

the whole "comey told me 3 times he wasn't investigating me" thing shows trump's ignorance because, ok maybe comey actually told him 3 times in 3 private conversations he wasn't investigating him, but CERTAINLY he would say, all 3 times, "and please never speak of this conversation because it's highly classified". because he was asked about that same thing under oath in front of congress a few days ago and said he couldn't speak on it because it was classified
