As a point of interest, the "counter-protestors" were majority white from the videos I've seen. Not surprising given that Charlottesville is a majority white town. Always refreshing to see Americans of all races creeds and religions marching against nazis and the klan.

That the Robert E Lee highway goes right past the Pentagon is quality trolling.

I've accidentally clicked on politics 7.0 a few times. Its despicable and I don't know what the **** mason malmuth or mat sklansky are thinking with that one.

As I'm sure jman is well aware it's never 100%. See the cop in SC that shot the black guy in the back, tried to plant a gun on him and still got a hung jury. All on video too.

Also appreciate your insight in the state's side. I have A cousin who works in a PD's office and when he speaks generally about things I love to listen to learn.

Racism is supposed to be forbidden the forum fwiw.

Yeah, it is good, but of course whiteys shouldn't break their arms patting themselves on the back. Decent people of all races being totally comfortable protesting Nazis together in 2017 is just what should be expected.

P7.0 largely keeps the trash out of this forum.
Better question is why do you people read it and bring it here?

Valid.

Edit: No, I take that back. I really don't know. I"m jewish. They're jewish. I really really don't understand how any people of my religion can possibly still support Trump, given all that has happenned, even if they were somehow fooled around election time. He is continuously dog-whistling to and refusing to denounce nazis. The holocaust wasn't that long ago. I really don't understand it.

Nothing in life is ever 100 percent, but this guy isn't getting acquitted. You cannot compare this case with the cases of the police officers who were acquitted. It's a different animal entirely. It is always extremely hard to prosecute a police officer. I myself prosecuted a police officer once in my career (for theft/corruption). The public will always give a police officer the benefit of the doubt. Jurors will as well. Even a case like Zimmerman is not even close to analogous to this. This is somebody who travelled form Ohio to attend a white supremacist/neo-nazi rally and then drove his car into a crowd at a high rate of speed, and then backed up at a high rate of speed. There is just no way, no way he gets acquitted.

Is there more than just that one video ITT of the car?

NYT has an article about Republicans putting Trump on blast for his dog**** response

Quote:
During a brief and uncomfortable address to reporters at his golf resort in Bedminster, N.J., he [Trump] called for an end to the violence. But he was the only national political figure to spread blame for the “hatred, bigotry and violence” that resulted in the death of one person to “many sides.”
Quote:
“Mr. President — we must call evil by its name,” tweeted Senator Cory Gardner, Republican from Colorado, who oversees the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the campaign arm of the Senate Republicans.

“These were white supremacists and this was domestic terrorism,” he added, a description several of his colleagues used.
Quote:
But like several other statements Mr. Trump made on Saturday, the tweet made no mention that the violence in Charlottesville was initiated by white supremacists brandishing anti-Semitic placards, Confederate battle flags, torches and a few Trump campaign signs.
Quote:
In Bedminster on Saturday, Mr. Trump said he and his team were “closely following the terrible events unfolding in Charlottesville, Va.,” then tried to portray the violence there as a chronic, bipartisan plague. “It’s been going on for a long time in our country,’’ he said. “It’s not Donald Trump, it’s not Barack Obama.”

Mr. Trump did not single out the marchers, who included the white supremacist Richard Spencer and Mr. Duke, for their ideology.
Incredible. David Duke weighed in too:

Quote:
“I would recommend you take a good look in the mirror & remember it was White Americans who put you in the presidency, not radical leftists,” he wrote on Twitter, shortly after the president spoke.

Still waiting to hear more details about the helicopter crash... it seems highly likely that it had to have been shot at or something right? Those things don't just fall out of the sky randomly very often...

Right now there's an active discussion about the biological inferiority of black programmers led by a poster who was banned previously for racist garbage, and oh by the way that's not even going down in P7, that's the science subforum.

My understanding is that helicopters crash disturbingly often, I would say it's highly unlikely someone took a potshot at it.

Case is being handled by the feds now. One of the interesting things about Trump firing all the US attorneys is that most of the acting US attorneys rather than getting political patronage jobs are instead career prosecutors. Rick A. Mountcastle the acting USA for the WD of Virginia is a 30 year career prosecutor. The case is in excellent hands.

It is hard to swallow. But, Jews certainly aren't generally immune from being racist and in particular, unfortunately, hatred towards Islam is not incredibly rare among Jews and that may be what draws them to Trump. And, while these alt-righters are certainly Jew haters, the more prominent among them are much more public with their Islamophobia.

Seems pretty unlikely to be able to shoot a helicopter down with pistols or rifles, but I suppose anything is possible with a lucky shot hitting the pilot or something.

Edit: My money is also on accident.

For some reason the media plays up the anti-black and anti-Muslim parts of the alt-right and downplays the JQ issue, there are a fair number of Jewish alt-lite guys. A lot of ethnic Jews see themselves as white.

And you don't need to be OF the alt-right to see them as one of the two legitimate sides of the debate, and perhaps more sympathetic than the regressive leftists and gun grabbing libtards.

If it had been shot down there'd be a massive manhunt, has to be an accident or mechanical failure.

Yeah I'm probably off on "highly likely" now that I think about it more. I don't know **** about aviation though. Did seem like a strange coincidence at first glance though on such a ****ty day. Glad that things seem pretty under control so far in Charlottesville tonight.
