I appreciate your detailed replies. FWIW, I hate the Republicans a touch more than I hate the Democrats. I knew it was all basically

I guess that means Republicans support the abolition of the income tax, Social Security, Medicare and a plethora of other programs. Rhetoric notwithstanding, they don't.

I'm sure their rankings are based relative to the current Congress, so supporting a top tax rate of 50% makes you a class warfare-engaging socialist punishing job creators if the status quo is 25% and a poor-hating free marketer giving huge unsustainable tax cuts to the rich if the status quo is 75%.

Well, it's also worth considering that the Republicans were the more progressive party for a while, or at least they included some much more progressive folks.

There is also something to be said for the fact that one party wants to return to Biblical times while the other is interested changing things to fit a more modern perspective.
