It may have something to do with the fact that Stormfront-style racists think that Republicans are their people, and those Republicans keep saying Stormfront-style racist things. Like, you realize that Republicans support rounding people up and putting them in camps, right?

i am sober and serious. posters from this particular forum seem to scour this website for things they find objectionable and demand changes.

not you, perhaps. this latest bout of me urinating on the politics forum came about because people were outraged in the mod forum by one bit of questionable moderation in the pog politics thread.

it was that discussion, btw, that prompted augie to create his own politics thread in lvl.

They don't really support the camps. It's just that when it comes down to a choice between stopping it versus an extra $5 in their paycheck and having to waste extra energy thinking about it...

actually i do wonder about that avatar. he's had it for many years and this is the first i heard it was a problem.

do you have a link to the origin of that avatar and why it's racist? i would be happy to make him delete it if there is an appropriate reason.

You and Mason are like a ****ed up version of good cop, bad cop. You come around like "oh hey I don't have a problem with anything, I just don't want to be bothered" while Mason, on the other hand, hates liberals and the fact that he gets repeatedly owned when he starts threads here, so he comes in and threatens to shut down the forum.

So, for that reason, this:

is worth nothing. Mason will continue to be on edge about how the Politics forum (and only this forum) is run regardless of how you feel.

It was you who told him to. It was you who then gave him a forum when his thread was, predictably, virulent AIDS to the forum he supposedly moderates.

There WAS, however, objection... and it was in the March LC thread, a thread in which I would imagine a lot of us don't read every post. I had to go back and find it to see what it was even about. Maybe it would have been the same reaction if it was in The Presidency of Donald J. Trump thread, maybe not, I don't know. But it's not like there was widespread use of it, widespread agreement with it, or no condemnation.

Didn't know that about North Carolina, guess it's another on the list of really ****ty things about one of the GOP-controlled states that hopefully Dems can fix if they ever get enough power.

But to try to create some sort of link between dth's post here and the response to it and those ****ty laws is a huge false equivalence. To try to claim that this politics forum is a sexist hell hole is crazy. You think almost every reg here doesn't vehemently oppose those sorts of laws? Or doesn't factor that type of stuff into voting/demonstrating/volunteering/donating decisions?

Lirva is the one who made a big deal of it last year and augie did change it. Can't recall what name Lirva was using or which ATF thread, but this isn't a new complaint. He only changed it back recently to annoy people.

I wasn't around this politics forum 10 years ago that I recall, at least not regularly. But I mean it's like any racist caricature you'll see with exaggerated features. Seriously, google "racist black caricature" and click on images, and you'll probably see a couple like it in the first few rows.

That's mostly true. But I do believe that if there were fewer exiles then there would be fewer complaints coming to Mason's attention and I also believe people would be freer to speak their mind on all sides. It's the being kicked out that people complain about. They don't usually complain about other posters just being mean to them.

It's cute that you feel that way Mat, but Mason has a huge problem with us confronting those people. He threatened to shut down Politics because of it!

I object to the slandering of Slovenia. It was one of the most free countries behind the Iron Curtain, and the first to gain it's independence. It was a democracy well before Melania ever left. And they have wonderful hockey players.

I do feel for Melania because there is no way she wanted to be 1st lady. And I'm sure she's trapped by a killer pre-nup.

i sort of was raised by wolves. i never thought of it as a racist image. if it's such an offensive avatar i really do wonder why nobody complained in the last 15 years? we've received loads of complaints about avatars and deleted many of them.
