6.0 Earthquake hits Washington D.C.- Pentagon, Capitol Evacuated 6.0 Earthquake hits Washington D.C.- Pentagon, Capitol Evacuated

A 6.0 (Reuters) earthquake centered in Virginia has hit Washington D.C. and felt at least as far away as Times Square and Martha's Vineyard (where President Obama is).

It looks like damage is minimal, though buildings were shaking considerably

Edits: United States Geological Survey (USGS) has reported a 5.9 earthquake

Capitol rumbling seemed to come in 2 waves. Shook first for about 5 seconds. Then intensified...shaking for 30 seconds.

FOX says people in the Pentagon ran in fear for the exits, as it felt just like it did on 9/11.

Dumbasses across the parking lot are STILL evacuated from their building.

Awaiting the tsunami I guess.

I'm not a scientist, but don't little ones happen before the big ones?

It's more common for the big one to hit first and then littler ones to hit after, although the aftershocks may still be substantial. Foreshocks do happen, though.
