Uncertainty, debate, anticipation, even disagreement. All these things make the game what it is.

Horses have personalities. Also varying degrees of intelligence. I have never believed they are just dumb animals born to run.

One of my favorite things at the track is after the race when the jockeys dismount. One horse gets to go get his picture taken with a bunch of happy people. The rest get to hear their jockey explain what happened, then they are walked back to the barn with the other also rans. The winning horse usually is walked back by himself.

Opening night at Churchill my noob friends were sitting and a few minutes after the race the winning horse was walked right past us. They said "what horse is that?" I said "the winner!" And they yelled congratulations. Point is the horse looked like any other. Probably just wanted to go and eat! Question is "did he know he just won?"

Certain this is the reason I do not read anyone else's work or opinion about horse racing but it certainly entertains me. Horse whisperers abound itt .

ATS gave me a good radio station listen that talks horses but I just do not care at all what anyone else thinks period. I get the PP'S I check the weather I got a few twitter feeds that have up to date info on the track I am competing on and that is all I need.

Guys like ATS B3 Triple etc are all solid people and posters and i do enjoy seeing how other people see the sport and respect their insight but mostly i like them because they are fellow horse players itt....So ATS if that is how you feel i am glad you shared that with us also B3 and whoever else. I do not see your picks or plays so much but your personality.

97 was first i saw of the speed figure....Do i get to keep my money because it was not fast enough What i am saying...

Look forward to your picks/plays and presence more itt Nasty or is this like last year your only interested time in our thread?
Honcho... I am not saying you should have to give your money back if you wagered on California Chrome. What I am saying is that the race was absolutely horrible and for people to sit here and say California Chrome was so much better than the rest of the field is an absolute joke.

It'll definitely prove you know more about how to bet on horses than Dale Romans or likely any trainer.

Good for Dale Romans... I actually look at what matters and that would be the tote board. If CC really had doubters he wouldn't have paid $7.00.

The derby is a unique betting pool bcos of all the "squares" betting that day BBB... The derby pool would look a lot different if only the degen die hards showed up to bet & the casual once or twice a year bettors stayed home. With there being so much square money crossing the counter on derby day, it only makes sense that it goes on a square horse. Doesnt it? Had people like u & me only bet the derby, CC would have been more like 4/1 or maybe higher. I said going into the race, it was his race to lose, but that I had my doubts about him. I dont think he's a super horse, but I do think we were all lucky to witness that on saturday & collectively it was good for the game imo.

Dunno, I think the squares are the ones betting on Animal Kingdom. Whoops.

I don't feel lucky to have watched a short margin of victory perfect trip winner in a historically slow time.

In post 7568 you said he was "toying with the field"
In post 7578 Jacksquat said CC was "two tons the best"
In post 7580 RGeorge is talking about a possible triple crown winner
In post 7590 JKPoker said "CC was head and shoulders above the competition"

I guess I didn't watch the same race as everyone else here. The horse won by a diminishing 1 3/4 lengths. At one point he was winning by 5 but had horses closing on him in a race that had zero pace.

I guess this is what I don't get with you... What were we able to witness? What I saw was the slowest Derby time in 30 years. You act as if we seen greatness... instead we seen mediocrity. With a pace that slow... If the horse is/was that great...when he was leading by 5 he should have atleast won by that amount if not more without trying. Instead he had horses catching him.

No B3 my point was what does it matter.....So much after the fact who saw what bla bla like I said just humors me but if this is part of it like Triple says then have fun fellas I am not interested. I will cap the Preakness if I am not competing give my 3 to fade if so then my exotics if I have time

Now were talking about 2 different things. I did say it was like he was toying with his opposition & i admit, i over stepped my boundaries there.
When i say that it was special to watch, i dont mean it in the same way as somebody who witnessed big red win the belmont by 32 lengths or citation beating 3yo's in a stakes race when he was only a 2yo. I mean it was special bcos of the story behind it all, not bcos of the time of the race or margin of victory.

Well if your looking at it from that point of view then fine... I mean every horse has a story behind him or her but sure CC's is pretty cool... But just because the story is cool doesn't mean he is unbeatable. But I think we agree on that.

It should b noted that every race CC won this year he had a perfect trip... Every race he wins, will b bcos he had a perfect trip. He's that type of horse. He puts himself directly into the game early, which prevents him from getting into trouble.

Sure B3 be happy to...CC won the KYD....Now its time for the Preakness

ATS felt strong about the story about CC I didn't know there was one. I watched all the preps and by my eye CC was the best horse in the race I bet CC to win.

The Preakness is next....I am capping for the week and were still talking about Saturday...Saturday...not game day but Saturday

So as you can see and know by me all this other chit I could care less about.
That's just me though man

Yea i thought there was some type of error when my odds adjusted & candy boy was. 9/1.... Wasnt it the year Smarty won & some guy in chicago plunged on sweetnorthernsaint at post time causing him to go off favored?? And that was even after the guy that owns oaklawn had bet 250k on smarty to win so that if Smarty won the Derby he would have the $1million bonus money for sweeping the arky prep races & winning the derby.
I too wanna know who dropped a milly on candy boy... Prolly some head of the cartel that loves his hookers & blow & is referred to as the "candy boy" that thought it was meant to be.

I think all of us bettors can agree that the bigger the field sizes are, the bigger the pools get, better the payoffs are.... If your like me, you hope every race has at least 10 betting intrests in it, but we all know that its an absolute rarity to see an entire card with double digit field sizes for each race.. Sure, it happens sometimes, usually on big days when owners want there horse competing & when the racing office makes it there goal to get big fields.
The reason i bring this up, is with CC winning the derby, its only gonna attract new people to the owner/breeding game. Seeing a mom & pop operation winning on the biggest stage gives those people an enormous amount of hope & gives us bettors more horses, bigger fields, better payoffs. That is why I said CC's win is good for the game as a whole.

This right here. I will say this as polite as I know how but what difference does it make to you how ATS saw it or made him feel? You said it was a terrible race should I go off on a rant about what a joke your opinion is and give quotes and whatever because I saw it or made me feel different? Maybe I just say I see it different and give my own opinions how. ATS has to justify how he feels about a race and to who? Please...

Hope you see the point this time man we are all fellow horse players itt why tear someone down for having a different opinion
