I'm thinking of asking someone outside of poker to stake me for 1/2.

I did a stake once with someone who plays and has an online account. The way that worked was every time I'd lose he'd reimburse my losses. There was no set limit. Then, after a week, I'd report back with all my winnings and give half. Besides, just an initial 5 BI good faith transfer, there was no big lump sum of money given. I think that's standard for stakes.

Now, I can't figure out how I'd do it with someone who doesn't have any knowledge of poker. I've just explained how I'd be a good investment. Any one have any ideas on how to go about how the actual stake would work? Right now I have 30 BI for 1/2, so I'd want another 30-40 I guess.

I wouldn't be transferring back my winnings each week (since he doesn't play)... How would I make it worthwhile for both of us? Ask him for like 7K and then say say I'll give him back 14K when I'm done with the stake? Basically, just be like, I'll give you a nice little return of twice your money?

Any ideas on how to do a non standard stake?

Or better yet, someone just stake me for 1/2 lol.

You have 30 buyins but want a stake for 30 more? WTH?

How can this be such a good investment? If you are that sure of yourself it shouldn't take more than a month or two at NL100 to get to 40 buyins, and how hard can it be to run good one time when taking a 2-3 buyin shot?

I mean, if you are only doing this because are that much of a bankroll nit than getting staked is very -EV, imho, you are just giving away money.

hey clayton is it standard to open UTG with a rundown that has a front and back gap in 6max??
08-03-2008 , 04:14 PM
nice vocab truancy, you've impressed us all. Of course it is, it's Clayton the ultra lag
08-03-2008 , 04:20 PM
anybody wanna stake me for a harder game so i only get half the earnings instead of just moving down 1 level and it's the exact same money? thanks in advance.
08-03-2008 , 04:20 PM
Clayton, do you like Trance?
08-03-2008 , 04:22 PM
I play .5/1. I wanna play 1/2. I'm more than capable to play 1/2. In fact, I'd be there full time, but I'm always having to cash out. I suck at being a hardcore grinder and only log like 30k/month. I only have 30 BI for 1/2 but wanna have 60 BI to feel comfortable there. I'm not looking for it because I'm a BR nit but because always having to cash out has delayed my progression.

I don't get your mocking post jem because there's a pretty big difference between the money at 100 and 200.
