Nicky,
setometer figures this all out for you, no work needed. It's a good way to get an idea of where you should be running assuming average luck in terms of sets/AA/KK.

hey all, lately I have been sucking quite badly so I finally downloaded this PokerEV stuff. Any help letting me know what this all means?

12-17-2007 , 12:17 AM
keyser,

From what I understand, you are getting killed in pots that don't go to showdown (-9bb/100). I wish I knew how to fix that because I'm having the same problems. On the other hand, if you are playing really soft games then I think your W$wsf will naturally be less. Meh.
12-17-2007 , 12:26 AM
213th/2200ish tn in the FTP million. Thats 3 weeks in a row I go decently deep, just gotta finish one off.
12-17-2007 , 12:28 AM
Yeah your getting killed by probably cbetting and firing multiple barrells to much. It also could have something with drawing and not getting there. It definately seems to be more a leaky/spewy problem I believe as your luck graphs seem to be normal.
12-17-2007 , 12:35 AM
when the hell did 4betting become the new rage?

that's weird as I don't think I really spew too much, and if I have leaks they're probably on the nitty side instead of the over-aggressive side (or maybe I'm wrong). thanks for the comment though

I'd realllllly appreciate any other thoughts as I'm reading the PokerEV threads now but there's just so much info I don't really know what to think. maybe I should start another thread?
12-17-2007 , 12:44 AM
yes, you're too nitty...firing c-bets and then giving up and then villains take it away from you later

Haha, well its worked for me every time. But i really didn't mean what i said literally. Its just nice to move down because pots will seem easier to come by and will do a ton for your confidence.
12-17-2007 , 12:48 AM
I mean the best thing to have when looking at these EV graphs is your green line being above both the red and blue. It just means you are winning pots w/o going to showdown and your running good and making hands.
12-17-2007 , 12:52 AM
also wrt my graphs, the vast majority of these hands are 200bb hands, which plays a little different in terms of re-raising ranges and pot control and stuff. not sure if that matters any
12-17-2007 , 12:56 AM
how long does it take to dl that poker EV thing keyser? im debating dl-ing later. not sure if i want to deal with it or find another excuse on why ive been playing bad but just curious to see my results.
12-17-2007 , 12:57 AM
It takes like 3-5 minutes to install, and like 3-5 minutes to make a decent-sized graph.

Didn't take more than 5 or 10 mis for me. But I'm using a brand new really fast PC. The d/l doesn't take long, it's the loading your PT database stuff that might take a while depending on your machine.

It's basically saying you're running 4BB/100 above expectation, but that doesn't really mean anything. And it means even less deep stacked where bigger bluffs (and subsequently suckouts) are alot more common, since it obviously has no way to factor in fold equity or other not explicitly quantifiable aspects of a hand.

Or if you're playing 200BB stacks and have something like AK vs QQ all in preflop, for example, and win with AK then PokerEV will say you're running more than 2buyins above expectation - which is true, but deceptive and silly to try to interpret. I wouldn't try to do any deep analysis of your game with it, but it's fun to use for entertainment.
