What would you say is more important when trying to put villains in ranges:
1) Their tendencies/playstyle
2) The way the hand plays

For example, let's say villain is OOP and check-calls both the F and T, then leads the R.
I tend to follow 2) more, so I'd look at the hand itself and think what sort of hand he would play like this.
Do you think villains stats matters much in a decision like this? Like, if he is very aggressive it means higher chance that he's bluffing or something like that?

Oh, I play PLO 6 max 0.05$ right now, but I wouldn't mind answers applying to higher stakes.

Is the 'how to beat PLO 25 guide' from the archives from 2010 still viable? Some things in there like people almost never reraise preflop and most pots are 3 or 4 way seem way out of date.

I don't know anyone who has tested this for >20K hands - if people are competent, they move up sooner. So I'm afraid there's no precise estimate. My educated guess is that a reg of serious stakes can beat PLO2 for 20 bb/100 post-rake, especially if cherry-picking tables with 4 fishes. I can't prove it on my own (show such a winrate) because I'm mind****ed in general.

Anyway, the question is a bit absurd because no one is going to play PLO2 for long. Thus the lifetime rake paid at PLO2 is negligible in comparison with the rake paid at higher limits over the grinder's whole career.

It's quite possible to make a living in a 2nd world country like Belarus playing 60K-70K hands of PLO2 a month (and sustaining Goldstar as a small bonus), crushing 'at the tables' for 20 bb/100 and also earning ~65% cashback (13 bb/100 or so) to make it $400-500/month total (that's because 10 VPPs are awarded per $1 of rake at PLO2, as opposed to 5.5 at PLO25+; bonus whoring, i.e. grinding only during the reload bonus periods, can push the cbk % over 80, but can hardly make a living).

But certainly winners don't stay at PLO2 for long because higher stakes offer higher $/100 winrates (as a rule of thumb, moving one limit up boosts $/100 by 1.5 times, not 2 as games get tougher); I think a serious grinder should go either to eurosites or for Supernova, which is quite possible at PLO10 (at the same 60K-70K hands/month) and nets ~50% cbk there due to the 7 VPP/$ rate.

Thoughts on how I played this hand? I want to play this multiway so just calling the 4bet is fine? Or do I just want to get the money in.

What's my best play on this flop?

Please explain in detail about the Eurosites.

I have cleared this month's reload bonus on Star and in the process also made Goldstar again. The games aren't that good on Stars so I'm looking to expand to other sites next month. Which sites and how do I go about this?

Also when you say 65% cashback on Stars for being a Goldstar, what exactly do you mean? I'm a Goldstar and I'm certainly not getting 65% cashback.

The trick is that at PLO2 you'd get 10 VPP/$, instead of the 5.5 VPP/$ of PLO25. Here's the breakdown:

30000 VPP/year = $3000 in rake is needed to sustain Goldstar;
$880 = 80 $11 Omanias bought by 80 * 750 = 60K FPP;
$350 in stellar rewards;
$600 in quarterly reload bonuses (or am I too optimistic? );
~$120 in monthly Goldstar freerolls;
$1950 total, 1950 / 3000 = 65%
and I didn't even count affiliate and irregular promos.

At 5.5 VPP/$ it's just 65% * 0.55 = 35.75%, though

As far as eurosites, search in Google or the Affiliates/RB forum and ye shall find My strategy is to cherry-pick rake races combined with VIP programs and bonuses: some of them are balanced well enough to reward even the Goldstar kind of volume; a race tends to be especially juicy when an affiliate has just started promoting a skin - it gets populated slowly and rewards early adopters in its first month.

Hi, thanks for the response, I really appreciate it.

I've got a few questions.

-How do you enter the Omanias using FPPs? I just checked the VIP store and there are no Omania tickets.

-Definitely overly optimistic with the reload bonuses. So far this year, I have only received $350 in reload bonuses.(I did every single reload that was offered)

-What's up with the Goldstar freerolls? I seem to be missing out on these every single time. I just checked, so there's one $100,000 freeroll every month and one $30,000 FPP freeroll every week?
And how did you calculate that dollar amount? For the big one, $100,000 / 999 places paid = $100.10. Plus the weekly $30,000 / 1800 places paid = $16.66, x4 = $66.64. So a total of $166.74, is that what you did?

But the main thing is I had no idea, that at PLO2, you get 10vpp/$1 rake, and at PLO25, you only get 5.5vpp/$1. That's pretty crazy. But I guess it would still take longer(more hands) to reach Goldstar at PLO2 than PLO25 because even with double the vpp/$1 rate, you pay less nominal rake at PLO2.

But holy ****, you can really make Goldstar by grinding PLO2?! That's just insane!.

I was planning on achieving Supernova next year by grinding PLO25 and PLO50 but in light of this new information, I guess I need to reevaluate my plans

Check more thoroughly - they're in the 'Online Tournament Tickets' section and actually cost 700 FPP per $11

That's why Stars suck Thanks for the info, though - it's hard to track the reload history as I didn't have a Stars acct at all until recently.

So the cashback % above becomes 58.5% = $1755 / $3000 (there's $250 in less reloads, but 5 more $11 Omanias can be played) for PLO2, 58.5% * 0.7 = 40.95% for PLO10 and 58.5% * 0.55 = 32.175% for PLO25 Note how close it still is to the Supernova %

I divided the prize pool by the total number of entrants, which is normally around 10K in the monthly freeroll. The $30000 MTT with a 100 FPP (~ $1.6) BI is open to Silverstars+ so it's of much lower value, in fact it has no 'overlay' (i.e. the value is worse than the standard $0.015-0.016 per FPP) if there are more than 20K entrants (I don't remember how many).

There's a weekly $500 Gtd PLO tourney on Saturdays (all but the last of the month) at 16:00 ET with a 50 FPP BI and a chronic 'overlay'; it's too sad that it's not bigger and only a small portion of FPPs can be spent this way.

Don't worry, games are very loose and thus raky (with a eurotard style - picking passive dead money - fishes arrive to the river with weak ranges and fold too much), so I estimate that 60K-70K hands a month will be enough.

As written in my previous post here, it's possible to get SN playing the same 60K-70K hands a month at PLO10, it's the way to go if you plan to stay at Stars

I must be missing something because I don't see it at all. The only 700fpp tickets I see are the $11 Sunday Storm and the Big $11.

Can you link me?

Damn a PLO freeroll?! God damn, I've been missing so much value for so long! Starting next month, I'm gonna carefully take note of all these freerolls and set reminders on my cell so I don't miss any of em.

Oops, they're missing on the web page indeed but do show up inside the client (Cashier -> VIP store). Perhaps they're the latest addition. I've bought none yet so can't tell whether there are bugs with ordering them

Edit: btw, that's not the only recent change. The first deposit bonus suddenly clears at 20 VPP/$ instead of 17 for those who've signed up after Aug 28th

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has K Q A J

UTG raises to 3.5 BB, fold, CO raises to 12 BB

What do I do on BTN here? Just fold?

Can't be answered w/o CO stats

100bb deep I'm jamming vs an 8% CO 3bet range. Cold-calling vs a tighter range isn't terrible either, depending on how tight UTG open % is.

Does having the Ah in our hand make us less likely to 4bet or call? Just looking at our equity vs AAxx we're at 29%, which is pretty much as low as you can be in PLO?

I guess that's why his 3bet range is so important. Our flop equity is pretty nasty vs AA as well, hitting 40% equity on just 20% of flops so I doubt calling can be very profitable. Change the Ah to a 9h and our hand becomes significantly more playable.

I see Phil Galfond in videos open raise for weird sizes. Like 2.27 bb or 2.77 bb in late position. Is there any theory about preflop raise sizes somewhere? Can't find any threads.

idk about Galfond, but i always raise full pot UTG and HJ, and 3 bb in the CO and 2.5 OTB. The reason being that my hand strength is intrinsically weaker so if i get 3 bet it makes my implied odds slightly better (or i lose less if i fold), if the blinds fold it's no difference except you risk less, and if they are induced to call by the smaller bet i'm almost certainly going to outplay them.

Yup, that's the gist of it. I also pot from UTG/HJ, but 2.5x both CO and BTN - pretty much the same reasoning

Alas Hero is OOP. There are however 17-18 outs vs non-redraw straights, so it seems an easy b/c to defend from bigger FDs and try to trick A4 into a sigh-fold.
